About the Role
The Melbourne Conservatorium of Music at the University of Melbourne seeks to appoint a continuing fulltime position in Ethnomusicology. We are seeking an energetic and collegial scholar eager to shape and expand the Musicology and Ethnomusicology discipline bringing fresh perspectives on diverse musical cultures.

We welcome applicants with theoretical approaches and ethnographically grounded expertise in traditional or urban music cultures from regions such as the Indian subcontinent Southeast Asia the Middle East or the global Southareas that would enrich our current strengths in musicology ethnomusicology popular music studies and Indigenous studies.

In this role you will inspire and educate through teaching undergraduate and honours courses coordinating subjects and mentoring postgraduate students. Youll have the opportunity to contribute to a rigorous and engaging curriculum that challenges both Bachelor of Music and Breadth (general education) students while fostering a dynamic research environment.

We are looking for someone with a strong national and a promising international profile ready to make a significant impact as a thinker and researcher in the field of Ethnomusicology.
