The Los Angeles County Office of Education is seeking highly qualified and selfmotivated individuals that are interested in legal research critical thinking supervising and advising others on legal practices.
The position oversees the Labor Relations Unit and provides assistance analyses and advice to upperlevel management in the specialized field of public sector employeremployee relations and labor laws.
The Well Qualified Candidate Will Possess the Following
Knowledge:
Legal principles concepts procedures and research methods
Use of legal reference sources and materials including online legal research databases
Administrative laws and regulations including proceedings before administrative bodies
The California Education Code the California Government Code (Educational Employment Relations Act EERA)
California Fair Employment and Housing Act
Title VII of the Civil Rights Act
Age Discrimination in Employment Act
The American with Disabilities Act
The Family and Medical Leave Act
The California Family Rights Act and other applicable state and federal laws concerning employment discrimination
California Labor Code relating to wage and hour and workers compensation
General personnel management principles and practices including selection training supervision and performance evaluation
Principles of implementing diversity in the workplace

Required Education and ExperienceEducation:A bachelors degree or equivalent in human resources management psychology business administration public administration education or other fields closely related to the job requirements of this classification from an institution of higher learning accredited by a regional accrediting organization recognized by the Council of Higher Education Accreditation. Foreign degrees and credit units require translation and equivalency established by an agency recognized by the Commission on Teacher Credentialing.
Experience:Five years of experience in personnel management arbitration employee discipline or closely related field including one year of lead experience in contract development labor relations contract administration and negotiations.
Equivalency Provision:A Juris Doctorate degree may substitute for two years of the required nonlead experience in personnel management arbitration employee discipline or closely related field.
Additional Requirements:A valid California drivers license and the availability of private transportation or the ability to provide transportation between job sites may be required.
Hybrid remote schedules may be available.
Selection ProcessCandidates who meet the minimum requirements above will be invited to participate in an examination that may consist of Training and Experience Evaluation and Technical Interview.
