Position Description
The Department of Child Development at California State University Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) invites highly qualified motivated and wellorganized applicants for a pool temporary of parttime teaching appointments.

Department of Child Development
The Child Development Department resides in the College of Health Human Services and Nursing. We have over 900 undergraduate majors from diverse age socioeconomic cultural and academic backgrounds. Our students seek careers working with children and families from birth through adolescence. We are integrated into our local community through our fieldwork courses and strive to emphasize a sense of social responsibility throughout our curriculum.
Mission
The Child Development program focuses on the study of individual development from conception through adolescence within diverse contexts. Students are provided with fundamental knowledge of theoretical and methodological concepts developmental processes and current issues in the field. We believe that child development professionals play an important role in society with a significant impact on children and ensure that our students graduate as wellprepared professionals our program rests on three fundamental elements: knowledge skills and integrity.

We are seeking dynamic positive and contributive colleagues with a passion for teaching and a commitment to student success. The ideal candidate will have two or more years of teaching experience and a demonstrated ability to work effectively with learners of diverse ages and socioeconomic cultural and academic backgrounds. Candidates should possess excellent communication and writing skills initiative and resourcefulness.
The temporary faculty pool is continuously open and positions are filled based on student enrollment and authorized funding. Candidates may need to be available to begin teaching on short notice. The Fall term begins in late August and ends in midDecember; the Spring term begins in midJanuary and ends in midMay. Opportunities for teaching during the Summer Sessions may also be available.

Employment Requirement
Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.
In accordance with the California State University (CSU) OutofState Employment Policy the CSU is a state entity whose business operations reside within the State of California and prohibits hiring employees to perform CSUrelated work outside of California.
Salary and Benefit Information
Initial rank and salary for lecturer faculty are based on professional experience and educational background and are determined by the hiring department. Most new lecturers are hired at the Lecturer A or B rank. As of July 2024 the classification salary ranges for the respective ranks are:
Lecturer A: $5507 $ 6677
Lecturer B: $6221 $13224
Lecturer C: $6825 $14523
Lecturer D: $8593 $15211

A United States (US) Equivalency certification is required for earned/awarded/conferred foreign terminal degrees which is from a foreign Academic Institution for foreign studies. The US Equivalency certification is used to validate foreign studies from an academic credential evaluation agency and is evaluated on foreign studies and deemed to be equivalent to degrees from the United States.
