Software Development Manager OnRoad Transporter Experience

The Last Mile Technology team supports multiple businesses globally creating the technology that supports deliveries for businesses such as Prime Now Amazon Fresh Amazon Restaurants Amazon Lockers and other current and new initiatives.

Our team is seeking a talented SDM to lead a large team responsible for building many of the core delivery quality experiences in the Android and iOS driver delivery apps as well as the backend services that power them. The scope and impact of this teams work is massive with great opportunities for growth and ownership. Youll have the chance to work across multiple technologies mobile microservices ML CV IoT and utilize these to innovate and push forward the frontier of logistics.

The successful candidate is expected to be a handson technical manager who understands and sets a high bar for all phases of the software development lifecycle including: design development documentation testing experimentation and operations. Amazons Last Mile delivery efforts help get customer packages from delivery stations to a customers doorstep. Amazon has grown its last
mile delivery efforts helping to speed up customer delivery times and provide new innovations to customers. Working on the front lines of
our Last Mile tech team means that daily you have a tangible impact on an Amazon customers experience getting his or her package. Amazons Last Mile teams deliver packages (and groceries Prime Now third party and Restaurant orders) to homes businesses Amazon Lockers and even cars all over the world! This network is powered by hundreds of small businesses and tens of thousands of drivers that leverage Amazons technology to deliver millions of smiles to customers each day. The technology innovations that are developed by the Last Mile tech team help scale this exponentially growing part of our network and include a wide breath of solutions from ML and operations research based routing and planning algorithms our own inhouse maps and navigation platform IoT and hardware innovations doorstep delivery experience and the consumer grade native mobile apps that brings all these experiences together.

7 years of engineering experience
3 years of engineering team management experience
8 years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle including coding standards code reviews source control management build processes testing certification and livesite operations
Experience partnering with product or program management teams

Experience in communicating with users other technical teams and senior leadership to collect requirements describe software product features technical designs and product strategy
Experience in recruiting hiring mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills and make them more effective product software engineers
