Information about the Program and the College
The Forensic Science Program is administratively located within the Department of Chemistry and draws from faculty in Chemistry and the Department of Biological Sciences both in the College of Arts and vision for our College aligned with the universitys strategic plan is to ensure that our students graduate careerready to meet the worlds challenges and that our faculty research and creative activity contribute to the public good. We achieve this through robust collaboration across departmental boundaries with particular attention given to increasing experiential learning for our undergraduate and graduate students and connecting our scholarly and creative work to the needs of our region. We are especially interested in recruiting candidates who can contribute excellence in teaching scholarly/creative work and/or service toward achieving inclusive excellence throughout the university and to the greater community. The College is committed to faculty success providing resources and support within the Deans Office and through collaboration with Arts and Sciences departments and schools leadership teams in other colleges and universityserving partners such as the Center for Faculty Excellence. Through these connections we have developed a comprehensive cohortbased mentorship program to support the professional growth and advancement of faculty across all disciplines and ranks. The Forensic Science Program at BGSU is unique in that there is an Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) crime laboratory and investigation facility on the BGSU campus as well as a partnership between BCI and BGSU through the Center for the Future of Forensic Science. This partnership enables BGSU to create and provide the precise curricula and handson experience that todays forensic science and criminal investigation employers expect of prospective job candidates.
The Center for the Future of Forensic Science supports research leading to the development of new methods for processing and analyzing evidence refining our understanding of the neurochemistry and toxicities associated with substances of abuse and so much more. These efforts in teaching and research place the State of Ohio at the forefront of forensic science. The Center is dedicated to assisting BGSU and BCI in obtaining its mission to foster innovative forensic scientific research and to create training opportunities for forensic science professionals and students in forensic sciencerelated fields.
Because of the steady strong enrollment numbers in forensic science and its recent accreditation by FEPAC steps are underway for the program to become a standalone academic department.

Candidates invited for inperson interviews are to provide unofficial transcripts of the highest degree earned as well as evidence ofteaching effectiveness (e.g. teaching awards positive teaching evaluations student advisees with research publications).
The finalist will be required to submit official transcripts and written letters of reference. BGSU policy requires the finalist to authorize and pass a background check prior to receiving an offer of employment.
