About the Role
The Clinical Costing Analyst plays a key role in providing valuable insights and detailed reports on clinical costing from tracking revenue by procedure to identifying allocating and analysing costs all the way to presenting performance metrics and trends.
This role ensures Calvary maintains a clear accurate and timely understanding of the costs and revenue tied to clinical operations across a variety of services. By combining activity and financial data the position helps determine the true cost and return on the care provided.
As a strategic advisor this role influences decisions around performance service development health fund contracting specialist engagement and business intelligence (BI) analytics.
Key responsibilities
- Maintain and enhance clinical costing platforms (PPM) ensuring compliance with IHACPA guidelines ABF principles and APCS.
- Provide accurate timely analysis and reporting on clinical costings including ad hoc reports and data analysis.
- Develop and maintain costing model assumptions business intelligence dashboards and technical documentation for stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with accreditation regulatory standards and quality assurance processes.
- Engage with stakeholders to improve report/dashboard functionality and provide reports to external agencies as required.
- Support health fund negotiations business case development data validation and ongoing education on industry best practices.
What you Bring
Essential:
- Bachelors degree in computer science or a related field.
- Experience in clinical costings preferably in a private hospital environment.
- Proficiency with clinical costing applications especially PPM and IDIOM.
- Strong understanding of health data structures (DRGs diagnostics procedure coding).
- 5 years of experience with BI tools (e.g. Power BI) and advanced knowledge of MS Office SQL and MS SQL Server.
- Data analytics experience using statistical software (SAS R or Python is desirable)
- Strong skills in statistical analysis model development and attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present data effectively.
Desirable:
- Australianregistered health practitioner.
- Certification in Health Informatics Australia (CHIA).
- Experience in developing and reporting clinical KPIs.
- Knowledge of data governance privacy principles and research ethics approvals.
- Familiarity with clinical pathways and procedures in healthcare settings.
- Knowledge of the following applications: iPM Birthpac iCare Leecare Vitro PPM iPharmacy MedChart TechnologyOne Epicor.
- Strong strategic thinking and the ability to influence decisionmaking processes.
