The Florida Sheriffs Youth Ranches is seeking married couples to live and work with youth in one of our familystyle residential homes. This is a fulltime permanent position that will be living on campus for 14 days. Then going off duty and off campus for 7 days. The combined annual salary is $74880. Please note that each of you will need to apply individually.
SUMMARY
While living on campus and under the supervision of an assigned Unit Director the Cottage Parents provideyouth with a strong parental role model while implementing a professional familystyle program that emphasizes skill acquisition and personal developmentand a safe and secure environment in which to grow and learn. The Cottage Parents teachand developsocial skills selfhelp skills academic skills and independent living skills; and fostermoral and spiritual development through a broad array of activities to youth in residence that typically have a background of low selfesteem academic failure and problem behavior.
The Cottage Parents administerthe daytoday operations of a large family residence including various paperwork domestic responsibilities and other assigned duties. The Cottage Parents workclosely with other child care professionals as a team in carrying out responsibilities while in the work place. The Cottage Parents aredirectly responsible to the Unit Director. This position is not eligible for overtime pay.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Requires high school graduate or equivalent (some college credits preferred.)Must be at least 21 years of age be a married couplehave a valid Florida drivers license or the ability to obtain one within 30 days of employment a good driving record a concern for youth the ability and desire to work and live with youth and a strong desire to work in the human services field.
WORKING CONDITIONS
While on duty the nature of this position requires that the employees be available 24 hours a day. The work schedule is generally 14 days on then 7 days off. Occasionally may be required to work in outdoor weather conditions.
