Part Time Instructor - Microbiology

Nevada State University actively maintains an open pool of qualified individuals to be selected on an asneeded basis by the department to fulfill parttime temporary instructional needs and applications are accepted on an ongoing basis.

Nevada State University invites applications for adjunct faculty for inperson courses including lecture and lab components in Microbiology to begin Fall 2024. The selected candidate will join a dynamic and interdisciplinary team in the Department of Physical and Life Sciences which supports Bachelor of Science degrees in Biology Chemistry Environmental Resource Sciences and Human Health Sciences.

Applications will be considered on an asneeded basis determined by course availability.

Adjunct faculty members are compensated at the rate of $1000 per credit hour for lecture and $2000 per credit hour for lab. Courses range from 14 credits.

Unless stated otherwise all positions require Nevada residency and onsite work.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Teach BIOL 251 (microbiology) lecture and/or BIOL 251 lab.

• Design course materials as needed (syllabus lectures assignments exams etc..

• Utilize training sessions/materials to master the use of Canvas NSUs learning management system.

• Maintain regular communication with students adjunct coordinator and department chair.

• Teaching mentoring and advising students.

• There is potential for collaboration with other faculty.

Required Qualifications:

• M.S. or terminal degree (e.g. Ph.D. in Biology or other related field at the time of employment.

• Evidence of strong commitment to teaching mentoring and working with undergraduate students.

• Demonstrated commitment to a diverse nontraditional firstgeneration student population.

• Eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship (Nevada State does not sponsor employmentrelated visas).
