Job Description

Position: Business/Sports Marketing Classroom Teacher

Reports To: Building Principal and Superintendent(s)

Type Position: Exempt

Coaching Positions available at MHS:

  • Assistant Varsity football coach
  • Assistant Varsity boys basketball coach

Qualifications:

  • Certification from the state of Missouri to teach
  • Bachelors degree or higher preferred

The Teacher is responsible for all educational instruction which will foster and accelerate their academic intellectual physical social and career development.

Other requirements

Must successfully pass a background check that is satisfactory to the Board of Education.

Ability to complete tasks in a discrete and confidential manner.

JOB GOAL:

To Carry out the implementation of district approved curriculum be professional and successfully comply with evaluation criteria as carried out by district administration and district initiatives.

Term Of Employment:

In accordance with the board adopted school calendar.

Compensation:

As approved by the Marshall Public Schools Board of Education

Paid Time Off (PTO):

In accordance with the districtadopted paid leave policy and schedule

Evaluation:

Performance of this position will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Boards policy on Evaluation of Certified Personnel.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Become familiar with enforce and follow all Board policies regulations administrative procedures other directions given by district administrators and state and federal laws as they affect the performance of job duties.
  • Consistent and regular attendance. Come to work and leave work at the time specified by the employee handbook or by the employees supervisor.
  • Implement instructional activities that contribute to a positive environment where students are actively engaged in meaningful learning experiences.
  • Identify select and modify instructional resources to meet the needs of the students with varying backgrounds learning styles and needs.
  • Assist in assessments and changing curricular needs and offer plans for improvement.
  • Collaborate with peers to enhance the instructional environment.
  • Ensure student growth and achievement is continuous and appropriate for age group subject area and/or program classification.
  • Participate in training opportunities as established by District Administration and Title I instructors.
  1. Follow and abide by District adopted curriculum and pacing guides appropriately as directed by District Administration.

  1. Maintain Courteous and professional relationships with pupils parents/guardians teachers and other employees of the district and all patrons of the district.
  2. Organization Keeps track of assignments due dates and completion of assignments.

Tasks are organized prioritized and planned out. Materials equipment and work area are clean organized and ready.

  1. Performance Clerical duties as directed.
  2. Professionalism Represents district and board values in daily work and interactions. Follows through appropriately and keeps his or her word. Demonstrates consideration and respect for others.
  3. Professionally Represent the school and the District in interactions with parents staff and students and resolves conflict in a professional manner.
  4. Quality of Work Work is accurate thorough neat and completed in a timely manner.
  5. Quantity of Work Effectively produces work in accordance with job description and the district department and building needs.
  6. Relationships and Communication Develops and maintains effective working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders. Never has personal relationships with students that cross professional and legal boundaries does not cross lines with social issues between teacher and peer uses positive and appropriate communication.
  7. Safety Follows safety guidelines. Maintains and promotes a safe work environment.
  8. Submit All required reports or paperwork at the time requested.
  9. Supervises Students in and outofclassroom as assigned.
  10. Accommodations: Follows IEP/504 and in the absence of specific directives makes assertions as to what are reasonable accommodations if there is a need to meet a student where they are.
  11. Has a good working relationship with regular staff members special staff members and students.
  12. Serves on district committees as assigned.
  13. Other duties as assigned.

Skills and Abilities

Must be willing to learn and comply with district initiatives that involve technical and program skills. Such as but not limited to financial software Word Processing Excel Google Suite PowerSchool AESOP as well as proficiency with computer based communication expectations.

Attendance:

Consistent and regular attendance is an essential function of this position. Must follow district policy on employee absences.

Computation:

Ability to define problems and prioritize job tasks.

Hearing:

Must be able to hear a conversation in a noisy environment .

Language:

An individual who holds this position must have the ability to:

  1. Communicate fluently verbally and in writing in English.
  2. Read analyze and interpret administrative correspondence and directives as well as Board policy and handbooks.
  3. Keep student information confidential according to FERPA when required by law except for from the building administration.

Physical Demands:

  • Move in and around buildings and grounds attend meetings and supervise designated areas.
  • Hear a conversation in a noisy environment.
  • Occasionally required to stoop kneel crouch or crawl.
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 35 pounds and occasionally up to 75 pounds.
  • Occasionally be required to be outside in temperatures below freezing and above 100 degrees.
  • Work irregular or extended hours for specific school events such as school programs or conferences.

Technology:

Basic computer skills ability to learn new programs quickly and manage the following: Basic Computer Word Processing and Google Suites.
