Part-Time Custodian

Education: High School Diploma or High School Equivalency

Qualifications: Basic knowledge of proper housekeeping floor care and maintenance procedures; ability to learn proper equipment operation and new procedures; human relations skills; ability to lift sixty 60 pounds.

Reports To: Head Custodian or Lead Custodian

Job Goal: Maintain a clean safe and attractive environment.

Responsibilities:

1. Perform general custodial duties including floor care and general cleaning.

1. Perform general grounds maintenance including snow removal and lawn and gardening tasks.

1. Assist other building personnel with special activity preparation.

1. Acquire general knowledge of building mechanical systems.

1. Assist Head/Lead Custodian and district maintenance personnel in operation and repair of mechanical systems including preventive maintenance.

1. Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the building principal custodial supervisor or the head/lead custodian.

SKILLS are required to perform multiple tasks with a potential need to upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: operating equipment used in industrial maintenance including electrical cleaning equipment common tools etc.; and adhering to safety practices.

KNOWLEDGE is required to perform basic math including calculations using fractions percents and/or ratios; read and follow instructions; and understand multistep written and oral instructions. Specific knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: methods of industrial cleaning; and safety practices and procedures.

ABILITY is required to schedule activities; collate data; and use jobrelated equipment. Flexibility is required to work with others in a variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing specific defined processes; and operate equipment using standardized methods. Ability is also required to work with a wide diversity of individuals; work with specific jobrelated data; and utilize a variety of jobrelated equipment. Problem solving with data requires following prescribed guidelines; and problem solving with equipment is limited to moderate. Specific ability based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: adapting to changing work priorities; communicating with

diverse groups; meeting deadlines and schedules; working as part of a team; and working with constant interruptions.

Work Environment and Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently required to sit; occasionally walk and stand. Lift sixty 60 lbs. occasionally with the ability to reach stand walk carry bend stoop kneel crouch sit and/or crawl. Maintain effective audio/visual discrimination and perception to the degree necessary for the successful performance of assigned duties; Maintain mental capacity allowing for effective interaction and communication with others. The job is performed under some temperature extremes and under conditions with some exposure to risk of injury and/or illness.

Terms of Employment:Twelve 12 Month

Hours: 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm MF 20hrs/ may vary daily depending on tasks and could include some evening and weekend hours depending on events.

Evaluation: Job performance will be evaluated depending on school level elementary (Head) or secondary (Lead).
