The Department of Administration Shared Services of Alaska is recruiting for a Data Processing Manager 2inAnchorage or Juneau!

This position is open to Alaska Residents only. Please check our residency definition to determine if you qualify.

What You Will Be Doing:
This position directs a data team that delivers essential operational services to Shared Services of Alaskas (SSOAs) programmatic components focusing on the management of the divisions data reporting and software infrastructure. The incumbent oversees data projects that align with SSOAs strategic mission of providing efficient costeffective and customer focused services. Responsibilities include: data management data reporting project management supervision and other duties assigned to support the divisions objectives.

The Working Environment You Can Expect:
This position is offered in Juneau and Anchorage with an option of a hybrid telework schedule. Our offices are beautiful modern and are centrally located in the Anchorage Atwood Building and in the Juneau State Office Building.

Who We Are Looking For:
We are interested in candidates who possess some or all of the following positionspecific competencies:

  • Attention to Detail:Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.
  • Data Management: Knowledge of the principles procedures and tools of data management such as modeling techniques data backup data recovery data dictionaries data warehousing data mining data archiving data disposal and data standardization processes.
  • Project Management:Knowledge of the principles methods or tools for developing scheduling coordinating and managing projects and resources including monitoring and inspecting costs work and contractor performance.
  • Supervision:Plans distributes and monitors work assignments; sets task priorities; evaluates work performance and provides feedback to others on their performance; ensures that staff are appropriately selected utilized and developed and that they are treated in a fair and equitable manner. Assignments include the authority and responsibility to recommend or independently take action to employ (i.e. appoint transfer promote) discipline or discharge or adjudicate grievances of direct reports.

Any combination of education and/or experience that provides the applicant with competencies in:


Equivalent to those typically gained by:
Training in information technology or a similar field with progressively responsible professional experience that developed expertise in one or more IT functions and the provision of IT services to business and public users and includes prior supervisory responsibility.

It includes instruction through formal and informal methods (such as classroom online selfstudy and onthejob) from accredited and unaccredited sources and longduration (such as a postsecondary degree) and shortduration (such as a seminar) programs.

Professional experience means work that is creative analytical evaluative and interpretive; requires a range and depth of specialized knowledge of the professions principles concepts theories and practices; and is performed with the power or right to decide or act according to ones own judgment.

Progressively responsible means indicating growth and/or advancement in complexity difficulty or level of responsibility.

Positions may be identified as being significantly involved in the following options: operations; programming/analysis; specialized support such as technical services data communications data base (DBMS) administration information management etc. Systems software and hardware used must have been equivalent in size and complexity to computer systems used by the State of Alaska.

Recruitment and selection may be based on the areas of needed expertise in the agency in which the vacancy exists.

This position is currently undergoing review as a part of a jobclass study and therefore both the title and the pay range assigned may be subject to change upon the completion of the study.
