The Department of Communication at Tulane University invites applications for a tenure track position at the Assistant Professor rank for a scholar in feminist media or communication. We seek applicants whose teaching and research center on gender and/or sexuality and their intersections and engage peoplecentered research methods such as critical ethnography interviews oral histories focus groups and digital methods. We are especially interested in applicants whose research engages the lived experience of BIPOC and/or Global South communities and explores the relationship between media and social justice. Regional specialization and specific topics of research are open.
The Department has a strong intellectual commitment to innovative interdisciplinary and transnational media research evidenced in the scholarship and teaching of our faculty many of whom have officially shared appointments with other departments and programs in the School of Liberal Arts. We seek a faculty colleague to expand the Identities and Relationships area of our core curriculum communicationmajor Candidates should be prepared to teach the core course Cross Cultural Analysis in addition to courses in their areas of specialization. The course load for this position is 2 2. Tulane University is a tierone research university in the United States.
Qualified candidates for this position will hold a PhD degree by June 30 2025. We are interested in candidates from a range of disciplines related to media and communication such as cinema and media studies communication anthropology cultural studies gender and sexuality studies sociology political science Africana Studies Native American and Indigenous Studies Asian Studies Middle East and North African Studies and Latinx and Latin American Studies.
