The Department of Corrections Division of Institutions is recruiting for multiple Food Service Journey positions at the Goose Creek Correctional Center (GCCC) located inMackenzie Point Alaska.

What You Will Be Doing:

Under the supervision of the Food Service Lead and Food Service Supervisor you will work with and monitor an inmate work crew who prepare and serve meals for up to 1500 inmates 3 times daily at Alaskas largest Correctional Facility Goose Creek Correctional Center. The successful candidate will also ensure food is prepared and stored in a safe manner and ensure the kitchen is kept clean and organized.

The Working Environment You Can Expect:
Goose Creek Correctional Center is a minimum/medium custody facility that houses up to 1500 inmates and employs over 350 staff. You will be working in the states largest industrial kitchen with other staff and inmates daily.

  • Oral and Written Communication: Expresses information (for example ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example technical sensitive controversial); makes clear and convincing oral and written presentations; listens to others attends to nonverbal cues and responds appropriately.

Minimum Qualifications

This job class is part of a series of competency based class specifications created for career areas within the Labor Trades and Crafts Unit. The class specification identifies the levels of work and wage grades within the career area the core and specific competencies of the career area required work behaviors certifications and physical requirements.

If postsecondary education is required to meet the minimum qualifications you must fill in the Education section of the application. If utilizing this education you must show that the education credentials have been submitted to a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign educational credentials and that such education has been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education programs; or an accredited U.S. postsecondary institution reports the other institution as one whose transcript is given full value or full value is given in subject areas applicable to the curricula at the postsecondary institution or high school. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.

WORK EXPERIENCE
If using work experience in your Applicant Profile you must also provide the employer name your job title dates of employment and whether full or parttime. CRIMINAL HISTORY CHECKS/APSIN/ACOMS
Please be aware this position requires the use of the Alaska Public Safety Information Network (APSIN)/Alaska Corrections Offender Management System (ACOMS). A security clearance issued by the Department of Public Safety (DPS) is necessary to use APSIN/ACOMS. DPS will deny security clearance for any applicant who has beenconvicted of a felony or misdemeanorin this state or another jurisdiction or who may be a fugitive from justice. Additionally security clearance will be withdrawn if DPS discovers that material information was falsified or omitted at the time of the initial application for security clearance.
