Location: 5400 Bay Line Dr Panama City FL 32404
Work schedule: Fulltime; MondayFriday; 7:00AM3:30PM

Position summary: The horticulture instructor is responsible for providing instruction to inmates in accordance with approved curricula. She/he provides inmates with basic direction in compliance with American Correctional Association (ACA) standards Management & Training Corporation (MTC) Florida Department of Corrections (FDOC) and Florida Department of Management Services (DMS) directives.
Essential responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized competencybased instruction through classroom and laboratory management inthe occupational program areas taught to inmates.
- Develop performance objectives and criterionreferenced tests in accordance with established program content.
- Review select and adapt instructional materials to help individuals reach mastery of the competencies required for entry advancement and upgrading occupations.
- Plan activities to efficiently initiate budget requests to assure that all equipment supplies and materials are available to support a progressive training schedule.
- Monitor motivation discipline and learning difficulties to bring about positive changes in the behavior of inmates.
- Evaluate and maintain records of the inmates progress toward completion of preestablished performance objectives.
- Execute all applicable forms to adhere to facility procedures.
- Promote the development of positive social skills through modeling appropriate behaviors and intervening when inappropriate behaviors are observed.
- Maintain accountability of inmates and property; adhere to safety practices.
- It is expected that the incumbent shall perform other duties as assigned within his/her capabilities as determined by management.
Education and experience requirements:
- A bachelors degree from an accredited college or university is required.
- A valid teaching certificate from the Florida Department of Education or a comparable authority is necessary.
- Must have horticulture experience and/or education in related area.
- Knowledge in areas of hydroponics seed germination etc. is helpful.
- Two 2 years of relevant teaching experience is preferred.
- A valid drivers license in the state of Florida with an acceptable driving record is required unless waived by management.
