Our Eglinton West Extension Office is seeking a Manager Guideway to provide comprehensive engineering construction and project management services associated with the delivery of the Elevated Guideway contract.
Manager Guideway will be responsible for oversight of Technical/Design and Construction services throughout the project and schedule management construction quality site safety and security project financial accountability project deliverables and technical input to program communications and intergovernmental relations during all stages of construction projects.
What will I be doing
- Delivers Elevated Guideway Contract from design and construction through commissioning and transfer to other project teams of Eglinton West Extension within scope on budget and on schedule.
- Oversees project activities to ensure compliance with good project management and construction practices as well as corporate design standards and applicable municipal provincial and federal codes.
- Oversees contractors compliance contract provisions including monitoring safety quality environmental compliance cost and schedule performance.
- Leads staff in management of risks and issues. Identifies and manages effectively the interface and integration risks between Elevated Guideway Contract activities and other activities of Eglinton West Extension project.
- Ensures that contractors construction plans and schedules are complete workable and in accordance with contract documents.
- Manages activities within budget allocations and schedules including timely reporting of financial and performance results and any significant cost security safety human resources or project management issues.
- Ensures Metrolinxs corporate policies relating to the construction safety are adhered to. Participates in employers safety assurance and management programs.
- Communicates effectively with internal & external stakeholders City of Toronto Toronto Regional Conservation Authority Agencies Utility companies etc. in defining project requirements developing project implementation plans and ensuring engagement during detailed design construction commissioning and handover phases. Also ensures timely and effective communication and consultation with external stakeholders and elected officials
- Assist the Senior Project Manager in managing consultants through all stages and phases of the projectdepartments
What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need
- University degree in Engineering or Architecture preferably Civil/Structural.
- Registration as a Professional Engineer (. or Architect (OAA) in the Province of Ontario is an asset.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is an asset.
- Elevated Guideway/Bridge design or construction experience is an asset.
- Prior experience with municipalities and transit agencies is required.
- Demonstrates progressive experience in project management and implementation including experience managing large complex multiyear transit projects preferably for bridges and structures related works.
- A valid Class G drivers license is required.
- Organizational interpersonal and oral/written/presentation communication skills to coordinate complex projects under pressure to meet schedule and budget commitments
- Knowledge of Contract Law Construction Liens Act the Occupational Health and Safety Act Environmental Assessment Act and the requirements of the Professional Engineers Act. Knowledge of Human Resources legislation to monitor and manage employees and contractors.
- Strong problem solving and influencing skills to establish effective working relationships negotiate and deal with a variety of contacts both internal and external to the organization; along with the ability to gain cooperation from individuals not under direct authority.
- Interpersonal and oral/written/presentation skills to present complex and/or new ideas with clarity and simplicity and to liaise with all levels within the organization and with specialists across multiple sectors.
