Job Description

General Summary of Position:

As a Postdoctoral Researcher specializing in Textile Chemistry Textile Technology & Materials Science you will be responsible for researching new chemistries and robust surface functionalization processes to impart unique combination of properties such as omniphobicity fire ancy antimicrobial characteristics and insect repellency etc. You will be responsible for patenting invention submitting manuscripts for publication in high impact peer reviewed journals writing proposals for obtaining additional grant funding and interacting closely with scientists and engineers in these funding agencies. In a very dynamic and collaborative environment you will manage multiple projects simultaneously oversee various teams and mentor team members including undergraduate and graduate students ensuring the successful completion of your own projects while supporting others in the program.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and conduct research and development of safer advanced textile treatments applying innovative ideas to enhance durable flame ancy antimicrobial properties and liquidrepellency performance.
  • Develop and implement PFASfree and environmentally friendly textile coating chemistries and surface modifications to meet sustainability goals.
  • Characterize treated surfaces using spectroscopic techniques thermal and flame tests and study thermal and thermooxidative degradation of treated fabrics. Evaluate mechanical properties such as strength durability and chemical resistance.
  • Collaborate with crossfunctional teams (design chemistry processing and characterization) to develop innovative textile solutions.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously ensuring timely progress and coordination across various teams.
  • Mentor team members and support their professional development.
  • Serve as a problem solver and a goto expert for textile chemistry and processing challenge.
  • Document research findings file patent disclosures prepare publications and research proposals and reports.
  • Present research findings and project updates to stakeholders as well as at national and international conferences.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in textile chemistry and technology. Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and sustainability practices.

Minimum Qualifications (Required):

Education/Experience:

  • PhD in Textile Chemistry Textile Technology Materials Science Organic Chemistry
  • Experience in textile research and development with expertise in organic synthesis
  • Strong understanding of textiles including fibers yarns dyes finishes and treatment methods
  • Proficiency in analytical techniques and laboratory equipment
  • Excellent problemsolving communication skills and attention to detail

Soft Skills.:

  • Technical Writing Skills: Ability to write clearly and concisely manuscripts for publications patent disclosure reports and research proposals.
  • Organization skills: Exceptional organizational and planning skills to manage projects with a focus on achieving key outcomes and new ideas for future opportunities
  • Presentation Skills: Proficient in presenting research findings to diverse audiences.
  • Time Management Skills: Ability to effectively manage multiple projects and teams simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
  • Mentoring and Coaching Skills: Experience in guiding and developing team members.
  • Teamwork: Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively in teams with varying levels of expertise and professional preparation

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with sustainable textile practices and ecofriendly materials
  • Experience with industrially relevant processes and standards.
  • Knowledge of the global textile industry and challenges
