Alberta Precision Laboratories (APL) is seeking a full time Anatomical Pathologist with fellowship training/expertise in Surgical Pathology and/or one or more subspecialties of Surgical Pathology. Expertise in Gastrointestinal Breast Pathology and Cytopathology will be considered assets. The successful candidate will join a team of 95 laboratory physicians and scientists working mostly at the Peter Lougheed Centre within a smaller group of pathologists. Participation in a multisite anatomic pathology oncall rotation is expected.
APL is a multisite provincewide laboratory providing comprehensive laboratory services. APL South Sector processes 30 million tests 260000 surgical specimens 200000 gynecologic cytology specimens and 10000 nongynecologic cytology specimens annually. The successful candidate must have the ability to work in a setting with a similar case complexity.
APL is a publically funded wholly owned subsidiary corporation of Alberta Health Services (AHS) and is party to an affiliation agreement with the University of Calgary (UofC). The DPLM and APL offers residencytraining programs in Anatomic Pathology General Pathology Neuropathology and Medical Microbiology as well as Fellowship training in subspecialty areas within Anatomic Pathology Hematopathology Clinical Biochemistry and accredited Cytopathology program.
Job Summary & Responsibilities
Anatomical Pathologists must maintain the highest possible standards of practice including prompt delivery of services to match established key performance indicators and provincial metrics must actively participate in quality assurance and quality improvement programs and must actively participate in undergraduate graduate and postgraduatemedical teaching.
Qualifications
Qualifications include a MD with eligibility for licensure in the Province of Alberta and certification in Anatomic Pathology or General Pathology by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or Anatomic Pathology/Clinical Pathology by the American Board of Pathology as well as subspecialty Fellowship training and/or Certification in Surgical Pathology and/or Cytopathology.
