About the Role

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated individual advocate to provide support and assistance to people who have applied to the National Redress Scheme. The National Redress Scheme is for survivors of historic sexual abuse in an institutional setting.

The ideal candidate will have experience working in advocacy roles with a strong commitment to social justice and have experience working with people with disability who have lived experience of trauma and abuse.

This is a maximum term contract of 30 June 2026.

• Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations: Thorough understanding of industry laws and compliance.

Responsibilities:

• Assist individuals in navigating the redress process including providing information on their rights and options
• Engage and liaise with the National Redress Scheme
• Engage with Redress applicants and determine additional information that is required for their application and provide this to the National Redress Scheme
• Advocate on behalf of individuals to ensure their needs are met effectively
• Maintain accurate records of client interactions and progress successes and challenges
• Collaborate with other team members to provide comprehensive support for clients

Qualifications:

• Previous experience in an advocacy role.
• Degree or equivalent education in social work psychology or related field
• Knowledge of social justice issues affecting vulnerable populations
• Experience working with diverse populations
• Familiarity with community resources for additional support

Remuneration and Benefits

• Award Classification: Level 5.1 Social Community Home Care & Disability Services (SCHADS) Award 2010
• PWDA pays aboveaward rates as per our Enterprise Bargaining Agreement.
