JOB DESCRIPTION

POSITION: Elementary Literacy Coordinator & Title I Director

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Masters Degree
  2. Licensure as Reading Specialist
  3. Licensure as Supervisor/Director Preferred
  4. Minimum of five years of experience as a Reading Specialist or Elementary Level Administrator. Classroom experience preferred

*Any of these qualifications may be waived at the discretion of the Superintendent.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Work with the Assistant Superintendent and elementary leadership team to provide instructional and curriculum development support for all components of the K5 literacy program.
  2. Provide instructional coaching consultation and professional development for K5 teachers to enhance literacy instruction.
  3. Serve as the Title I District Coordinator to manage and ensure compliance with all Title I grant requirements including budgeting program implementation and reporting.
  4. In collaboration with principals oversee evaluate and provide direct support to the Elementary Reading Specialists.
  5. Lead analysis of state and local test data to determine and address program improvement needs in literacy.
  6. Oversee and help facilitate literacy program pilots/reviews.
  7. Oversee the implementation analysis and continuous improvement of literacy assessments and progress monitoring tools
  8. Provide professional development on topics related to literacy during professional development release time curriculum improvement time and afterschool/summer as needed.
  9. Participate in and support the implementation of the District Curriculum Accommodation Plan (DCAP) and Individual Student Success Plans (ISSPs) related to literacy.
  10. Facilitate literacyrelated committees and initiatives.
  11. Work with parent and community groups to organize parent workshops informational sessions and community outreach initiatives to strengthen support for the elementary literacy program.
  12. Coordinate with the McCall Middle School administrators 612 Director of English and teachers to articulate the curriculum and provide a smooth transition from elementary to middle school.
  13. Present to the School Committee and parents/guardians as needed.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 205 days
