Job Description
Role: Oncall Substitute ESL Teacher
Reports to: Director of Studies
Location: Vancouver BC (inperson classes)
Description:
ILSCVancouver is seeking qualified and dynamic ESL Teachers available for oncall substitute teaching between the hours of 8:30am and 5:15pm Monday through Friday.
Successful candidates will be comfortable teaching a diverse range of adult English Language programs and courses in a hybrid classroom setting (inperson with simulcasting).A TESOL certification from a Canadianapproved institution is required for this position.
Job Duties:
The duties of this position include but are not limited to:
- Teaches lesson(s) prepared by the classroom teacher utilizing various materials and technologies as required.
- Leaves details for the teacher when finished covering the class to support a smooth transition back to the classroom teacher.
- Maintains current and accurate class records.
- Enters attendance records into computerized database daily.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Essential Qualifications Skills and Attributes:
- Bachelors degree from a recognised university
- TESOL certification from a Canadianapproved institute is
- Ability to communicate fluently and accurately in written and oral English
- Demonstrated proficiency with current technology tools and online learning platforms including:
- Microsoft Office Suite specifically Outlook Teams SharePoint and Excel
- Zoom and Teams in a classroom setting
- Online and hybrid teaching experience preferred
- Demonstrated to deal effectively and courteously with students and staff who may come from differing cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize organize and complete tasks with minimal supervision.
