Job Description
DeAngelo Contracting Services (DCS) is looking for a motivated and skilled HiRail Technician with a positive attitude strong ethics mechanical expertise and a strong focus on safety. This position involves spraying herbicide across various railroads and managing the maintenance and operation of trucks and equipment.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervise and manage all jobs/contracts assigned.
- Apply herbicides for grass and brush control across different railroad locations.
- Handle daily routing and scheduling tasks.
- Perform daily tank mixing of chemicals.
- Conduct truck inspections and manage the maintenance and repairs of the truck and spray system.
- Calibrate all spray equipment.
- Ensure all work is carried out in adherence to strict safety protocols.
- Maintain daily and weekly records.
- Serve as the primary point of contact with customers.
- Address customer and public complaints professionally.
- Report any potential liabilities immediately.
- Possess a thorough understanding of various grass and brush species.
- Have indepth knowledge of the chemicals used including what they control and their safety requirements.
- Fully understand application methods equipment calibration and spray patterns.
Qualifications :
EDUCATION:
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
EXPERIENCE:
- Must be 21 years of age.
- A valid state drivers license with at least 5 years of clean driving history.
- Willingness to travel away from home for up to 46 weeks at a time (hotel expenses covered by DCS).
- Must pass a preemployment drug test DOT physical and background check to work on railroad property.
- Commercial Pesticide Applicator License is preferred.
- Standard work schedule is Monday through Friday 7 AM to 4 PM with shifts typically ranging from 10 to 12 hours.
- Some weekend or night work may be required.
- Occasional travel to offices during breaks for truck/equipment maintenance.
- Work hours may vary based on weather conditions and workload.
- Spraying is a seasonal task aligned with the regional office schedule.
- Must adhere to the companys drug and alcohol policy.
TRAINING: DeAngelo Contracting Services offers paid training to help employees succeed in their roles. Training areas include:
- Identifying various weeds grass and brush species.
- Understanding which chemicals control specific plant species.
- Safely operating application equipment.
- Learning different field application methods.
- Understanding how to properly maintain equipment.

Pay rate: $20.0022.00/ per hour
