Senior Backend Engineer - Mission Control

Your Future Team:

The Mission Control team is responsible for live monitoring of operational quality and incidents with the goal of ensuring that our users have everything they need for smooth and flawless operations. We not only significantly influence important company KPIs such as accuracy delivery success and cost but we also have the unique opportunity to see our product in action in real life interacting with physical operations and real people.

Our team consists of one Engineering Manager four developers one Product Manager and one Principal Engineer and we are now looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join our amazing team.

In the Mission Control team we believe in having fun while working together. With many exciting projects on the horizon were looking for someone who loves learning sharing ideas and working closely with others to solve unique and challenging problems. Some of the things youll do:

• Build own and run backend services with a strong emphasis on full codebase ownership. Ensure accountability for the entire code focusing on high standards of quality maintainability and scalability.

• Design and develop software data structures that map complex realworld logistics scenarios to simple and effective solutions.

• Participate actively in architecture discussions and contribute to both technical and architectural decisionmaking ensuring alignment with our goals and user needs.

• Collaborate closely with product teams and engage with stakeholders to better understand user needs providing valuable input to improve our product.

• Be part of a modern product team not just a tech team where we are motivated by solving real user problems and meeting their needs with effective and creative solutions.

• Lead endtoend development of the backend application from idea to deployment ensuring the highest quality standards in every phase.

• Continuously improve performance usability and responsiveness of our product to deliver a worldclass user experience.

• Mentor and coach junior engineers fostering growth and knowledge sharing within the team.

Our Tech Stack:

Every team in our organisation has a large freedom of choice when it comes to what tools we use to solve our opportunities. Our team uses React Typescript NextJS React query Redux Pusher Kotlin/Java Go PostgreSQL and Google Pub/Sub with Protobuf. Weve adopted a microservices architecture not due to trendfollowing but because it aligns with our specific challenges and organizational structure. Our technology choices are deliberate driven by careful consideration of tradeoffs and suitability for our needs.

Whats most important to us is finding the right match for our team. We have senior Engineers who will be involved in coaching and mentoring to help you get up to speed quickly.

Beyond that we imagine you have some of the following points on your resum:

• 5 years experience in a modern tech environment especially in backend technologies.

• Experience with Go Kotlin or Java

• Experience with relational database technologies.

• Experience with any major cloud provider and tools (e.g. AWS GCP) Kubernetes Terraform Helm Github actions.

• Nice to have experience with event driven systems

• Nice to have experience with frontend development with React or Websockets (or SaSS products for consuming events like Pusher)

• BSc Degree in Computer Science or related technical field or equivalent work experience.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
