Role Definition
The Machine Subsystem team works on Embedded Control Systems for various Caterpillar Machines. This job involves designing developing and testing embedded control system features. The control systems engineer will utilize a variety of tools to support all steps of the embedded software development process.

Responsibilities

Gather product and system requirements to further specify and document control system requirements.

Design and implement embedded control system for new functions or the enhancement of existing ones. Core functions are implemented in C and Simulink.

Test and debug embedded system software using a variety of methods and tools to demonstrate requirements optimize system performance and improve code quality.

Collaborate with clients and partner teams to provide postproduction support.

Degree Requirement

BE/ in Electrical Electronics Mechatronics Mechanical Engineering

6 to 10 years experience in Embedded Control System Software Development

Embedded Systems: Knowledge of embedded systems and their applications; ability to develop embedded systems with varying levels of complexity to control the operations of the machine it is embedded within.

Identifies the application and difference between microprocessor and microcontroller.
Researches and documents upgrades for existing embedded systems.

Requirements Analysis: Knowledge of tools methods and techniques of requirement analysis; ability to elicit analyze and record required business functionality and nonfunctionality requirements to ensure the success of a system or software development project.

Product Testing: Knowledge of product testing approaches techniques and tools; ability to design plan and execute testing strategies and tactics to ensure product quality at all stages of manufacturing.

Describes key features and aspects of a specific testing discipline or methodology.
Describes common errors that are uncovered by product testing.
Cites examples of testing tools and practices currently in use.
Names key documentation (paper audio video) required during the testing process.
