Job Description

Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated instructor with a passion for teaching and developing the next generation of professionals in commercial electrical. The Instructor will be responsible for delivering handson and classroombased instruction ensuring that students gain the technical knowledge and practical skills required to succeed in the workforce. The ideal candidate will have industry experience teaching experience in vocational/technical education and a commitment to fostering student success through highquality engaging and effective instruction.



Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Instruction & Curriculum Delivery:

    • Teach both theoretical and practical aspects of the trade according to the NCCER (National Center for Construction Education and Research) and/or NC3 curriculum.

    • Develop and deliver engaging lesson plans lectures and handson labs aligned with accredited curriculum.

    • Assess student progress through quizzes exams and handson evaluations.

    • Provide timely feedback and mentorship to students on academic performance and practical skills development.

  • Classroom and Lab Management:

    • Manage classroom environment ensuring a positive respectful and productive learning space.

    • Facilitate lab exercises ensuring student safety and compliance with industry standards.

    • Prepare and maintain instructional materials equipment and tools for handson training.

    • Oversee the use of Blackboard for homework assignments grading and attendance record keeping.

  • Student Engagement & Communication:

    • Foster active student participation promoting a high level of engagement and motivation.

    • Provide guidance and support to students addressing individual needs and helping them overcome challenges.

    • Maintain open lines of communication with students encouraging their active involvement in their learning experience.

  • Documentation & Reporting:

    • Maintain accurate student records including attendance grades and performance reports.

    • Ensure all required reports are submitted in a timely and accurate manner (e.g. GPA attendance performance).

    • Participate in student progress meetings providing input on student success and challenges.

  • Professional Development:

    • Participate in ongoing professional development to maintain certifications and stay current with industry trends.

    • Complete the NCCER ICTP Instructor Training and other relevant certifications as required.

    • Actively engage in peer collaboration sharing best practices and contributing to the overall success of the training programs.

Qualifications

Instructor Requirements:

  • Experience:

    • At least 3 years of journeylevel or technicianlevel experience in electrical

    • Minimum of 3 years of teaching experience in a vocational technical or traderelated field preferably within a construction maintenance or technical training program.

    • Proven ability to effectively teach both theory and practical skills in a classroom and handson setting.

  • Certifications & Training:

    • Completion of or willingness to complete NCCER ICTP (Instructor Certification Training Program) Initial and Continuous Instructor Betterment Training.

  • Skills & Competencies:

    • Strong classroom management skills and the ability to engage and motivate diverse student populations.

    • Ability to prepare implement and adjust lesson plans that align with accredited curriculum.

    • Proficient in utilizing technology and media tools for instructional purposes such as online videos PowerPoint presentations and mockup equipment.

    • Physical ability to demonstrate and facilitate handson labs and exercises.

    • Strong time management and organizational skills to balance teaching grading and administrative duties.

    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with an ability to foster positive relationships with students and colleagues.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work in a classroom and lab environment which may require lifting and moving equipment and materials.

  • Ability to perform handson demonstrations and physically engage in lab activities including but not limited to operating tools machinery and technology related to the trade.

Work Environment:

  • Classroom and lab settings with exposure to typical trade environments.

  • Must adhere to safety standards and procedures when teaching and supervising students in labs and workshops.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • $35.00 hr 10 hours week/2x week)

  • $35.00 hr 10 hours week/4x week)
