The Hosted Here Discipleship Director is responsible for developing and leading volunteer teams providing spiritual leadership to those we serve and ensuring the effective discipleship of both volunteers and participants in the Hosted Here ministry. This role focuses on mobilizing and equipping volunteers to bring Mariners Church services and discipleship experiences into various environments such as nursing homes shelters military bases senior living youth facilities and healthcare centers.
A full time position the schedule generally includes services during the week at the various locations (will include nights and weekends) meetings at our office in Irvine and additional time during the week for a total of 40 hours.
Responsibilities
Volunteer Recruitment & Training
- Recruit train and equip volunteers to serve as ministry leaders in Hosted Here locations.
- Develop and implement a volunteer training program to ensure consistency in discipleship efforts.
- Provide ongoing coaching encouragement and spiritual support for volunteers.
Discipleship & Spiritual Leadership
- Develop and implement strategies to provide spiritual growth opportunities for both volunteers and those being served.
- Lead devotional times prayer gatherings and Bible studies for Hosted Here participants.
- Partner with Mariners Church discipleship initiatives to align Hosted Here programming with the churchs spiritual formation strategy.
Community Engagement & Care
- Build relationships with individuals in Hosted Here environments providing pastoral care and encouragement.
- Offer followup support and discipleship resources for those seeking deeper engagement.
- Work with the Operations Manager to ensure volunteers have the necessary resources and training to lead effectively.
Collaboration & Ministry Alignment
- Coordinate with the Sales/Admin Relations team to ensure volunteer and discipleship efforts align with each facilitys unique needs.
- Provide regular updates to Mariners Church leadership on discipleship outcomes and volunteer engagement.
- Participate in Mariners Church staff meetings training and churchwide events as needed.
Qualifications :
- Strong leadership and discipleship experience in a ministry or church setting.
- Experience in volunteer management training and equipping others for ministry.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a heart for serving diverse populations.
- Ability to work in various environments from nursing homes to shelters and youth facilities.
- Passion for sharing the gospel and making disciples in nontraditional church settings.
Physical Demands
- Light work that includes moving objects up to 20 pounds.
