Job Summary

The Summer Tech Workers will be responsible for refurbishing all 625 student netbooks at UHigh to likenew condition. This includes making all necessary hardware and software repairs as well as cleaning cases keyboards and touchpads and testing power adapters and external tablets. In addition the Summer Tech Worker will assist summer training sessions for teachers and students and they will support and manage 7 laptop labs utilized for summer school.

Benefits include time away from work for eligible employees and the option to participate in the Universitys 403(b) Plan.

Salary Rate / Pay Rate

$15.00 per hour

Required Qualifications

  1. Current or former University High School student
  2. Computer repair skills
  3. Ability to:
    work independently
    teach others how to troubleshoot computer issues
    assist with student netbook training
    support laptop computer lab hardware software and wireless issues

Special Instructions for Applicants

Extra Help employees may only work up to 28 hours per week for all University employment. Employees are only paid for hours worked and do not qualify for most benefits including health insurance and retirement with Illinois State University. However Extra Help employees are eligible to participate in the Universitys supplemental retirement savings plans 403b). Applicable retirement information is provided at the time of hire. There is no guarantee that working as Extra Help will lead to or secure permanent employment. In addition extra help employees may only work up to 900 hours total during their employment.

Applicable parttime work experience will be considered toward qualifying for this position; however it will be converted to a fulltime equivalency to determine combined length of experience.
