Compliance Officer

The opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity available for a Compliance Officer to join the EPA in our Regulatory Practice and Services division. In this role you will contribute to the development implementation monitoring and review of the EPAs regulatory strategies and systems in particular the motor vehicle compliance program aimed at minimising the impact of motor vehicle noise and air emissions on the community. The role also provides advice and recommendations to ensure the organisation meets its statutory obligations and undertakes training and capacitybuilding activities.

About you

You will be an outcome focused passionate advocate for the EPA. Our ideal candidate will but not limited to:

  • Attend and plan onroad motor vehicle compliance activities including joint NSW police operations
  • Process motor vehicle pollution reports received from staff within EPA and other Government agencies and the community in relation to noisy vehicles smoky vehicles and littering from vehicles checking data integrity and ensuring compliance with environment protection legislation.
  • Prepare correspondence in the final draft relating to motor vehicle compliance matters including ministerial correspondence and responses to members of the community
  • Respond and resolve enquiries and provide advice to the community and other stakeholders in relation to the issue of advisory letters penalty notices vehicle inspection notices and defect notices
  • Participate in onroad motor vehicle compliance activities and attend Court as a witness for the prosecution of alleged offences.
  • Build and maintain strong twoway trusted working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • First point of contact for customers seeking regulatory and compliance support from the EPA and responsible for delivering worldclass customer support experience.
  • Experience in drafting accurate and timely submissions reports and letters.
  • Holding an AIS Authorised Examiner qualification is highly regarded.

About the team

Regulatory Practice and Services is a dedicated team of environmental regulators that coordinates and supports the EPAs regulatory delivery. If you are successful in the role you will be working in a supportive diverse results driven team who work across all teams within the NSW EPA.
