Job Overview: The Hamilton County Prosecutors Office Paralegal works directly with assistant prosecuting attorneys and other support staff to prepare paperwork pleadings and other documents; assists with legal research and writing; distributes documents to courtrooms; and assists with daily office functions.
Responsibilities and Duties: - Prepare various court documents such as entries motions objections and notices that are filed with the Hamilton County Municipal Court and Court of Common Pleas the First District Court of Appeals the Ohio Supreme Court and occasionally the federal courts.
- Work with assistant prosecuting attorneys to prepare all paperwork for filing motions briefs and other pleadings.
- Work with assistant prosecuting attorneys with scheduling to ensure that filing and other deadlines are met.
- Assist assistant prosecutors with conducting background checks via local state and nation record searches through RCIC and BCI/III.
- Assist assistant prosecuting attorneys with reviewing and preparing responses to applications to seal/expunge records and motions for jailtime credit.
- Work with assistant prosecuting attorneys and other office staff on matters such as outofstate witness requests obtaining and reviewing medical records prisonertransport requests and routine office matters.
- Answering phone calls from attorneys and other legal professionals.
- Assist with additional case related and other duties as needed or assigned.
- Professionalism and confidentiality are essential and a background check is required.
Qualifications: - Associates degree paralegal certificate or equivalent work experience.
- One year of paralegal experience.
- Ability to manage and complete multiple tasks.
- Team player with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Reliable attendance.
- Effective time management skills.
- Highly organized detail oriented and quick learning ability when new tasks are assigned.
- Flexible and motivated.
- Strong computer skills and comfortable learning and navigating new and different data systems.
