Schedule: Seasonal Temporary 2040 hours a week

Spring Break March 23rd29th (Off Site not working)

POSITION PURPOSE:

Join a passionate team dedicated to nourishing the minds and bodies of students. We provide three wholesome homemade meals daily to students and staff at a renowned Outdoor School. Your culinary expertise will directly impact the success and enjoyment of each students transformative experience.

NATURE & SCOPE:At Outdoor School we understand that food is more than sustenance; its an integral part of the learning journey. Our cooks play a vital role in creating a positive and memorable experience for our students.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Preparation work for each meal includes but not limited to:

  • Baking
  • Baking salads
  • Preparing vegetable displays
  • Preparing serving area for each meal.
  • Preparing snacks for the afternoon. cabin time.
  • Preparing snacks for adults / high school students in the evening.
  • Placing food into serving dishes for tables during meals.
  • Filling condiment containers (sugar salt pepper ketchup etc.
  • Cleaning counters and coffee area after meals.
  • Sweeping / mopping floors as needed.
  • Wash pots/pans as needed.
  • Cleaning cooking utensils.
  • Unloading and stacking deliveries.
  • Preparing boxes for students cookouts.
  • Filling flour/sugar bins as needed.
  • Serving meals to the site population.
  • Washing dishes as needed.
  • Communicate with others utilizing appropriate verbal and nonverbal interactions.

Attendance: Daily and consistent attendance and punctuality are paramount as this provides consistency and alignment with students peers and programming outcomes.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS SKILLS ABILITIES:

  • Daily and consistent attendance and punctuality
  • Ability to relate to children and adolescents in a friendly and pleasant manner.
  • Ability to obtain a Food Handler Card and complete online SafeSchools training before the first job day. Computers and space can be provided if needed
  • Knowledge of proper kitchen hygiene and attire.
  • Ability to pass a background check.
  • Ability to get to and from work

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS SKILLS ABILITIES:

  • Bilingual or multilingual in Spanish Vietnamese Chinese Russian Somali
  • Kitchen or Service Experience.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Any combination of education and experience that would provide the applicant with the desired skills knowledge and ability required to perform the job

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work is performed in a typical camp and outdoor environment subject to moderate or loud noises. Work is performed inperson.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The physical and mental demands described here are representative of those that must be met by employees to successfully perform the essential functions of this classification. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Mobility: Ability to sit stand walk and move around for extended periods of time.
  • Lifting: Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Vision: Visual acuity to read and interpret written and electronic information.
  • Dexterity: Ability to use hands and fingers to handle feel and operate objects tools or controls.
  • Hearing/speaking: Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information so others will understand.
  • Emotional/Psychological: Ability to maintain composure and professionalism in challenging situations remain empathetic and understanding towards individuals with diverse backgrounds and needs handle stress and pressure effectively and adapt to change in the workplace.

This position is subject to board policies administrative rules and procedures department regulations and applicable state and federal statutes. This position does not carry administrative authority. All commitments outside of authorized programs and services are subject to prior approval by the supervisor of this position.
