GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: To effectively skillfully and safely perform work in various skilled semiskilled and unskilled tasks related to the overall housekeeping of facilities. Perform routine cleaning work preventative and predictive housekeeping in accordance with the district plan and RECEIVED: From Team Leader Custodial Foreperson Level One 1 or Level Two 2 and/or Custodian One 1 as applicable and/or the General Custodial Foreman and/or the Director of Facilities EXERCISED: No Supervision EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED: Work with Facilities Management Team members in a professional supportive and courteous manner in carrying out responsibilities of this position. Work with visitors vendors suppliers contractors utilities men staff teachers and administrators in a professional supportive and courteous manner as required for them to perform their tasks while visiting and/or working at the facility. Share Previous Work Experiences and Assist in the Training and Orientation of existing new substitute fillins and temporary team members and others with less experience and exposure to certain aspects of the departments responsibilities as directed by your supervision and/or the General Custodial Foreman and/or Director of Facilities Management. Work in general overall cleaning operations inclusive of but not limited to sweeping mopping damp mopping spray buffing burnishing scrubbing stripping sealing finishing and vacuuming of floors of various materials such as but not limited to hardwood vinyl asbestos tile vinyl composition tile terrazzo vinyl sheet goods rubber sheet goods painted quarry tile concrete and epoxy. Participates in the sweeping of and picking up debris at sidewalks parking entrance exit and play areas. Participates in the dusting washing aggressive and through cleaning of ceilings moldings shelves furnishings general equipment office equipment vertical blinds venetian blinds miniblinds drapes lockers furnishings radiators registers diffusers light fixtures chalkboards whiteboards tack boards window glass (interior and exterior) window frames rest room fixtures partitions doors door glass (interior and exterior) door frames and trim and covebase in all areas of facilities such as restrooms office areas cafeterias lobbies vestibules hallways general classrooms music rooms heath rooms technology classrooms home economics classrooms lounges locker rooms gymnasiums computer rooms science labs closets custodial areas conference rooms meeting rooms storage trailers kitchens auditoriums common learning areas planetariums darkrooms athletic training rooms basketball volley ball courts locker rooms weight lifting rooms dance rooms gymnastic spaces cold storage areas saunas steam baths green houses portable buildings swimming pools art rooms mechanical areas utility areas basements roofs and the exterior of facilities. Provide special attention and frequent cleaning and stocking of dispensers of areas such as restrooms vending areas cafeterias food preparation food disposal areas special education areas reception areas main lobbies and entrance ways. Promptly alert supervisor of poor conditions caused by vandalism outright belligerence and/or violation of school policy such as but not limited to Smoking. Remove gum other adhered materials and stains from surfaces as required. Effectively control odors caused by bacteria and use proper methods and procedures to properly clean area before the disinfecting process takes place. General cleaning of grounds including grass cutting and snow removal operations as directed. Unloading stockpiling of all materials and supplies. Perform building checks at nights weekends holidays as directed by the Team Leader Custodian Level 1 or Level Two 2 as applicable and/or Director of Facilities Management. Must be able to effectively use staging ladders and lifts of various configurations as required to perform job responsibilities. Raise and remove flags as may be directed by your supervisor. Setup and breakdown furnishings and other equipment and/or structures required for daily activities and special events. Open and Close facilities in a timely manner as directed by your supervisor. Expeditiously respond to and quickly stabilize contain clean and deodorize release of body fluids. Maintain security of buildings by locking and unlocking doors and windows as directed by your supervisor. Empties and cleans waste containers. Quickly and effectively remove graffiti and other forms of vandalism as directed by your supervision. Care for interior plantings including but not limited to watering and pruning. Strip and refinish floors on a regular and routine basis. Operate and skillfully work with cleaning pads floor brushes rotary floor machines automatic scrubbers wet vacuum systems dry vacuum systems backpack vacuum systems upright vacuum shampooers extraction systems and miscellaneous tools and equipment used in the practice of quality housekeeping operations. Work and prepare work utilizing methods tools equipment and practices that will minimize impact on facility cleanliness in an effort to maintain the highest standards possible for indoor air quality and general housekeeping conditions. Carry out work in a manner that provides for the protection of buildings vehicles and other personal and public property. Where methods circumstances and/or conditions prohibit performing work in a manner that meets this objective immediately consult with the immediate supervisor and/or Director of Facility Management. Be physically and mentally capable to become certified and maintain certification for Asbestos Abatement and Lead Paint Reduction programs as may be required to perform the duties outlined herein and be available to 151 perform these duties. May be required to cut and/or trim trees shrubs and grass remove snow from parking areas and sidewalks using vehicular mounted snow removal equipment mechanical snow blowers and shovels and do OTHER WORK as may be required to provide clean safe productive cheerful bright modern educational facilities as may be directed by the General Custodial Foreman and/or Director of Facilities Management.
