Job Summary:This position plans implements and delivers a comprehensive culturally responsive school counseling program that creates and maintains a safe and inclusive learning environment aligned with the district strategic plan for students enrolled in the Northshore School District to ensure the success of all students.
Salary: 202425 Northshore Education Association (NSEA) Salary SchedulePlacement on the salary schedule is determined by official documentation verifying educational level and certificated work experience. Salary will be prorated for less than a fullyear and/or parttime employees.

180 student school days based on employees FTE; plus eleven 11 additional 7.5 hour nonstudent work days.

Minimum Qualifications: Masters degree in counseling; completed state approved school counselor preparation program; demonstrated successful experience as a school counselor preferred; experience and/or training with cultural ethnic and language diversity desired.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:Knowledge of socialemotional developmental needs of students within age range; knowledge of subject matter content and pedagogy; knowledge of evidence based practices; knowledge of community resources available to students and families; strong organizational skills; skills in conflict resolution; demonstrated ability to perform crisis intervention; demonstrated ability to use effective counseling techniques and strategies; ability to maintain effective working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders; ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing; ability to speak and present information to an audience; ability to adapt to changes quickly; ability to be an effective and collaborative member of a team; ability to maintain confidentiality; ability to improve professional skills; ability to effectively use and integrate technology; ability to collect and utilize data to make informed decisions; ability to learn new policies and procedures quickly; ability to maintain WA State ESA Certificate.
Working Conditions: Works in a school setting; required to meet inflexible deadlines; experiences constant interruptions; required to deal with distraught or frustrated people; works with students with diverse needs and cultural backgrounds; must be able to bend kneel stoop and lift and carry objects typically weighing ten pounds or less; required to stand for extended periods of time; frequently reaches below shoulder height; occasionally pushes or pulls objects; frequently required to use sufficient manual dexterity to operate controls and computer keyboard and handle books and other materials; exposure to infectious diseases; may be required to attend meetings or activities beyond normal work day.
Licenses/Special Requirements:Valid Washington State Educational Staff Associate (ESA) Certificate in school counseling.Candidates who are new to the profession or moving from out of state may apply if anticipated to obtain certification prior to the position start date or first day of school.
