Job Description Summary

The School of Architecture & Design (SoAD) is currently seeking a fulltime visiting assistant professor in architecture for theacademic year to teach inperson courses within its BS Architecture and MArch programs on campus in Boston.

Responsibilities:

The successful candidate for this position will have a passion for teaching and research in adaptive reuse and/or historic preservation as well as the ability to teach foundation level courses including architectural studios and representation courses.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Collaborating with colleagues to develop and deliver integrated interdisciplinary coursework.

  • Advising and mentoring students.

Wentworths School of Architecture and Design (SoAD) offers highly respected Bachelor of Sciences degrees in Industrial Design (NASADaccredited) Interior Design (CIDAaccredited) Architecture Master of Architecture(NAABaccredited) and Building Sciences.

The mission of theSoAD is to empower design students and educators from all backgrounds to become creative civicminded problemsolvers responding to global challenges and contributing to local communities. The SoAD guides students to engage locally and globally explore advanced technologies collaborate within and across disciplines gain industry experience via cooperative education and learn to design sustainably and equitably. Comprising approximately 810 undergraduate and 90 graduate students the SoAD has robust international study opportunities at both the graduate and undergraduate levels.

About the Architecture Programs:

The School of Architecture & Design offers three programs BS Architecture BS Building Sciences and the professional NAABaccredited Master of Architecture. With approximately 670 students the architecture programs are centered around the design studio where students work closely with faculty in their explorations of architectural design across a broad range of scales. Our projectbased curriculum prepares students for a range of practices. Our graduates are versant in conventional and speculative design practices material practices participatory social practices and practices in scholarship and pedagogy among many others. Students and faculty in the program are not afraid to experiment learn from success and failure and keep pushing forward.

Students complete two mandatory coops bridging the gap between academia and industry reinforcing coursework and gaining valuable professional experience.

  • Master of Architecture

  • Doctoral degree in architecture environmental design or related field

  • Prior university level teaching in architecture
