Colorado International Language Academy (CILA) is a tuitionfree international charter school offering language immersion 50 in K5 in Mandarin Chinese German or Spanish. Position Overview:
CILA is seeking a passionate and qualified Elementary Spanish Immersion Teacher for theschool year. This fulltime position includes delivering instruction in Spanish Language Arts and Math to students in Kindergarten through 5th grade. Candidates must be native or nearnative Spanish speakers and comfortable teaching math content in Spanish.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver engaging instruction in Spanish Language Arts and Math for elementary students.
- Teach reading fluency comprehension grammar vocabulary spelling and writing in Spanish.
- Design developmentally appropriate lessons based on state standards and instructional best practices.
- Use student data to monitor progress and guide instruction.
- Collaborate with English and immersion teachers to support academic and language development for all learners.
- Demonstrate effective classroom management and professional teaching practices.
- Communicate clearly and accurately in both oral and written Spanish.
- Maintain accurate records of student academic progress behavior attendance assessments and personal information.
- Conduct formal and informal assessments to inform instructional planning.
- Support the mission and curriculum of the school.
- Supervise students during lunch recess transitions and field trips.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree or higher required.
- A Colorado State Teaching License OR passing scores on the PRAXIS or PLACE exam in Elementary Education are required.
- Endorsement background or certification in Spanish or Early Childhood Literacy preferred.
- Native or nearnative fluency in Spanish is required.
Skills and Abilities:
- Strong oral and written communication skills in Spanish.
- Ability to effectively teach math in Spanish.
- Strong interpersonal and classroom management skills.
- Ability to work with students from diverse backgrounds and ability levels.
- Experience with instructional planning differentiation and datadriven instruction.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred for communication and collaboration.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand stoop kneel or crouch for extended periods.
- Escort and supervise students during transitions recess (in varied weather) and field trips.
- Lift and carry instructional materials and supervise active student movement.
