Senior Site Reliability Engineer Platform Reliability Engineering (San Fran Denver NYC or remote within the US)
Fastlys Technical Operations (TechOps) team is responsible for building & operating the infrastructure that powers the Fastly Edge Cloud Platform. We oversee an extensive global network that spans 6 continents with 410 Tbps of connected capacity. Our platform serves a significant portion of the content delivered to internet consumers across the planet with customers ranging from online media streaming services to ecommerce to open source projects nonprofits and more.
As a Site Reliability Engineer in Fastlys TechOps organization you will play a key role in ensuring the reliability performance and scalability of Fastly Infrastructure.
What Youll Do:
- Develop and enhance automation and tooling to reduce manual toil across the Fastly fleet.
- Refine monitoring and alarming to ensure focus on key metrics for optimal performance and customer stability.
- Champion platform stability and customer reliability through crossteam collaboration.
- Drive continuous improvement by learning from operational challenges and integrating insights into future plans.
- Address largescale challenges and optimize systems for efficiency and performance.
What Were Looking For:
- Expertise in Linux/Unix systems with handson experience tuning troubleshooting and operating systems at scale.
- Proficiency in software development using Go or Python including experience writing robust maintainable and efficient code for infrastructure automation.
- Experience operating largescale infrastructure in onprem cloud or hybrid environments with a focus on reliability scalability and automation.
- Endtoend system knowledge from design and provisioning to deployment monitoring and longterm operations.
- Strong networking fundamentals including TCP/IP DNS HTTP and TLS with practical experience debugging network issues.
- Proven ability to manage and scale highly available distributed systems or the demonstrated capability to quickly ramp up in such environments.
- Motivated to learn and adapt to a new tech stack embracing unforeseen challenges with a problemsolving mindset.
Well be super impressed if you have experience in any of these:
- Experience with BGP and network routing in largescale environments or deep knowledge of the Linux networking stack.
- Handson Kubernetes experience or expertise with other container orchestration platforms in production environments.
Work Hours:
- This position will require you to be available during core business hours and occasional nights and weekends as required to support the oncall rotation.
Work Locations & Travel Requirements:
This position is open to both hybrid and remote work locations within the US.
The preferred hybrid locations for this position are:
- San Francisco CA
- New York NY
- Denver CO
Fastly currently embraces a largely hybrid model for most roles which allows employees flexibility to split their time between the office and home. We are willing to consider remote candidates in the US.
This position may require travel as required by your role or requested by your manager.

Salary:
The estimated salary range for this position is $167790 to $201348.
Starting salary may vary based on permissible nondiscriminatory factors such as experience skills qualifications and location.
This role may be eligible to participate in Fastlys equity and discretionary bonus programs.
