Position Purpose
The High School CTE Business Teacher will provide educational instruction for financial literacy principles of marketing and operations management.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Plans evaluates and revises curricula textual materials course content and activities in accordance with Board of Education requirements
- Keeps abreast of and provides career/technical guidance for students and parents
- Guides and counsels groups and individual students through the development of educational and career plans
- Keeps abreast of business education research through current literature engaging colleagues and participating in professional organizations/conferences
- Collaborates with local private and public business industries to improve programs develop new programs and provide students with practical learning experiences
- Participates in the design of business education professional development activities for administrators and faculty
- Conducts local studies and followup evaluations to determine the extent to which the business education program is meeting the needs of students
- As a member of the professional staff assists in interpreting the business education programs requirements to parents and students
- Serves as a resource to students and parents seeking guidance regarding postsecondary endeavors e.g. university enrollment career and technical military service community college etc.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by the building principal

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Ability to demonstrate effective leadership skills in group settings
- Skills in the use of oral and written language in order to present ideas simply and clearly to students teachers and parents
- Comprehensive knowledge of principles concepts and skills in the business education program
- Ability to create interest through the use of materials techniques and methods appropriate to the varying abilities and backgrounds of individual students
- Knowledge of effective multitasking and organizational skills
- Knowledge and adherence to Board of Education Regulations and Policies
- Knowledge of public school operations institutions and personnel necessary for efficient jobrelated tasks and responsibilities
- Ability to diffuse and avoid nonproductive conflict with parents students staff and administration
- Ability to assist students with use of conflict resolution strategies
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
The qualifications noted below are required to enable the employee to perform the essential duties/responsibilities of this position.
- Missouri Certification in Business Education
- A minimum of two 2 years of working with students from diverse educational backgrounds
- Previous experience with middle and late adolescent students
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Sufficient vision to read printed material see distant objects with clarity and identify and distinguish objects
- Sufficient hearing to hear conversations in person and on the telephone and hear sounds clearly up to 30 feet
- Ability to speak in an understandable voice with sufficient volume to be heard in normal conversation and on the telephone and in addressing groups
- Ability to exert up to 25 pounds of force to lift carry push pull or otherwise move objects
- This position requires standing walking sitting bending and reaching for extended periods of time
- Sufficient manual dexterity and/or mobility to grasp and/or manipulate objects operate mechanical equipment and move about the work area
- This position will subject the employee to work environments that have exposure to weather or interiors with extremes of heat and/or cold wet and/or humid conditions high noise levels and various work related hazards
