Job Duties
To effectively plan implement and facilitate assessment screening tools to inform the identified needs and subsequent placement recommendations for youth committed to DJJ. To coordinate and collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to synthesize relevant information identify and collate additional information needed to inform decision making provide feedback to the staffing team in accordance with policies and procedures and in alignment with risk need responsivity.
As a condition of employment the selected individual(s) must successfully complete the Virginia Department of Juvenile Justices Basic Skills and Handle with Care training located in Hanover County and have the ability to obtain certifications in FirstAid and CPR.
Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge of evidencebased trauma informed juvenile justice programming components spanning initial intake to reentry
Considerable knowledge of adolescent development
Extensive knowledge of juvenile assessments treatment and evaluations
Demonstrated ability to work and communicate effectively with a wide range of service providers involved with the care and treatment of highrisk adolescents
Ability to adhere to regulatory timelines
Strong reasoning analytical and communication skills
Attention to detail patience and perseverance
Effective oral and written communication skills
The ability to use motivational interviewing skills to work with juveniles engage families and other DJJ personnel
The ability to work effectively with community partners Regional Service Coordinators and outside providers
Understanding of confidentiality and professionalism as it pertains to DJJ policies and procedures
Knowledge of the Departments practice model (YASIrisk need responsivity) and how to effectively translate the tool to work effectively with juveniles
Ability to travel to various juvenile detention centers across the Commonwealth
Additional Considerations
Degree from a college or university in the social sciences or related discipline
Experience providing workshops inservice trainings or other professional development opportunities to a range of providers
Experience supervising the completion of intake assessments and subsequent reports
Ability to interpret and develop policies goals and strategies related to behavioral intake assessments

Background & Preemployment Screenings:
