John Sevier Elementary is excited to announce an opening for a dedicated and enthusiastic Physical Education Teacher for theschool year. We seek a licensed educator passionate about fostering a positive school culture through engaging physical education programs.
Expectations:
- Demonstrated experience in leading and teaching large groups of elementary students in gym classes.
- Collaborate with gradelevel teams to seamlessly integrate academic standards into a comprehensive physical education curriculum.
- Willingness to lead afterschool and beforeschool clubs and activities that promote a healthy lifestyle.
- Assist with the daily arrival and dismissal of students ensuring a safe and welcoming environment.
- Commitment to building positive relationships with students and their families enhancing community ties.
- Collaborate with the music teacher for school assemblies and family events enriching our students educational experiences.
- Maintain the gym and associated resources ensuring they are accessible and safe for all students.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the administration included but not limited to Crisis Response Team and supervising before and after school arrival and dismissal.
- Must hold or be willing to obtain a valid license issued by the state of TN to teach Physical Education for grades K12 by July 2026.

All interested parties should submit a letter of interest and a resume by April 15th 2025 to Joshua Oliver Principal at John Sevier Elementary Additionally all applicants should complete the online application with Maryville City Schools. Selected candidates will be contacted if they advance to the next phase of the interview process which may include a virtual Sparkhire interview followed by an in person interview on Thursday April 24th.
