Role Overview: As the Features Editor you will play a vital role in shaping the future of local journalism for MySA by overseeing our Food and Culture content. You wont just be managing the teamyoull also dive into reporting working closely with reporters to create timely highimpact stories that resonate with a digitalfirst audience. This role is perfect for someone eager to take on both strategic leadership and creative storytelling all while ensuring that MySA is the goto source for restaurant news and features that capture the unique essence of San Antonio.

What will you do

• Lead and Inspire: Work alongside a dedicated team of reporters helping them shape stories refine ideas and improve their craft. Your leadership will directly influence the quality and reach of our journalism.
• Create Stories: Not only will you guide reporters but youll also have the opportunity to roll up your sleeves and report on compelling stories that draw traffic and captivate readers.
• DigitalFirst Focus: Youll lead coverage with a digitalfirst approach using metrics and audience feedback to ensure content connects and drives engagement both on and offplatform.

What will it take to be successful

• Team Leadership & Story Development: Oversee reporters covering Food and Culture beats. Collaborate with them to generate fresh story ideas provide thoughtful guidance and ensure that all stories are wellresearched engaging and accurate.
• HandsOn Editing & Publishing: Quickly and efficiently edit stories for style and accuracy ensuring every piece meets our high standards. Youll also make realtime decisions on story posting to maximize audience impact.
• Creative Storytelling: In addition to managing reporters youll contribute your own writing and reporting producing stories that reflect your deep understanding of local chisme and how San Antonians see themselves reflected in the places where they eat shop and celebrate.
• Audience Engagement: Monitor audience metrics to gauge the effectiveness of coverage and provide actionable feedback to reporters. Your goal is to drive reader engagement and foster a loyal digital audience.
• A growing portfolio of highquality impactful stories that drive digital visits and social engagement.
• A team of reporters producing timely engaging journalism that resonates with local audiences.
• Seamless collaboration across the newsroom resulting in outstanding digital coverage thats both urgent and relevant.

What were looking for:

• A minimum of two years of editing experience with a keen eye for detail accuracy and digital optimization.
• At least two years of experience as a reporter with a proven ability to write compelling trafficdriving stories.
• A bachelors degree in journalism or a related field.
• Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to provide clear constructive feedback to a team.
• Passion for local journalism and knowledge of San Antonio and South Texas is a huge plus!
