Twoway immersion develops high levels of academic achievement bilingualism and cultural competencies among students and contributes to the longterm preparation of students for the global economy. The Opportunity:

The Fifth Grade TwoWay teacher will provide students with instruction in Spanish and English in a selfcontained classroom. The successful candidate will work cooperatively with grade level cluster and wholeschool teams of teachers including specialists in the areas of ESL SSL and Special Education. The successful candidate must plan and implement an academically and linguistically active curriculum that is developmentally appropriate and socially/culturally responsive to the needs of the dual language student population. The candidate will have experience planning implementing and adapting ongoing curriculum which is based on the Massachusetts State Frameworks as well as the local Cambridge Learning Expectations for fifth grade. The candidate will work collaboratively with parents and guardians to engage them in classroom activities and schoolwide events. Other duties as assigned.

Your Skill Set:

As the incoming Fifth Grade Teacheryou will possess many though perhaps not all of the following characteristics and qualifications:

• Bachelors Degree or higher from an accredited college or university required including coursework in first and second language acquisition.
• High levels or native language proficiency in Spanish and English including listening speaking reading grammar and writing.
• Familiarity and experience with a variety of online platforms.
• Creativity and passion for dual language and antiracist teaching.
• Familiarity with and appreciation of fifth grade students their needs and interests.
• Previous and successful experience working in a multicultural environment and demonstrated implementation of culturally responsive practices that includes students from diverse ethnic cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
• Required Massachusetts Certification in Foreign Language Certification 16 (Spanish) Elementary 16.
