The Power Conversion Devices engineer will work withwill lead the design and packaging of the next generation of power supply components for future model hybrid electric programs.
Responsibilities
What youll do
Lead Power Conversion Device design and delivery for next generation electrified vehicles.
Manage Component Design Specifications Program Timing and Build Plans.
Lead Sign off on 3D CAD models 2D drawings & related GD&T.
Develop invehicle package locations for Power Conversion Devices by sporting asinstalled mechanical design team for ideas and feasibility of attachment features and package size of power conversion components.
Release core components in AVBOM & WERS and drawing updates from Prelease through launch working with asinstalled engineers and supporting change control as needed report program milestone deliverables.
Manage electrical Device Transmittals to support Vehicle wiring and connector selection.
Participate in Design Reviews and Worst Case Circuit Analysis.
Work with HV and LV wiring team for proper wire and fuse sizing.
Work with vehicle teams on load sizing and proper power supply selection criteria.
Manage quality foundation documents including DFMEA RCL/RDM DVP&R.
Phased PPAP process support through supplier visits and sign off (Review and approve Control Plan and PFMEA)
Manage supplier work for component development through Ford Motor Company Release Processes and Milestones.
Support launch of vehicle programs primarily breadboard and prototype builds AIMS resolution with suppliers.
Evaluate electrical system engineering alternatives for various attributes including cost weight package quality benchmarking geometry creation & functional analysis by Interfacing with various crossfunctional organizations.
Coordinate sourcing with Applications Purchasing Finance and Cost Estimation Teams.
Mange part design for financial freezes through Milestones and Program Approval.
Work with a team comprised of Tier 1 suppliers purchasing/STA manufacturing attribute teams interfacing teams and vehicle team.
Responsible for production warranty investigation VO returns/failures with suppliers to drive containment and elimination of early warranty factor.
Manage analytical plans for recovery through 5D 8D 6Panels.
Resolve vehicle package location items and lead development of countermeasure designs.
Lead Technical Design Review items before Managers Chief Engineers and Directors demonstrating component knowledge and technical capability
Lead benchmarking efforts for core components present findings and analyze HV and LV electrical architectures.
Work with other core engineers on authoring test methods and perform the necessary bench and on vehicle testing to ensure component and vehicle operation to requirements.
Troubleshoot component functional issues.
Qualifications
Youll have
Masters of Science in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
4 years of automotive engineering experience with vehicle systems design process.
Strong teamwork and collaboration skills selfmotivated eager to take responsibility and deliver results with minimal supervision
Demonstrated experience working with cross functional teams and driving product development issues to resolution
Excellent written & verbal communication skills.
Even better you may have
Experience in electrical component design and release and/or electrical systems engineering.
Experience with electric vehicles either at the system or component level.
Experience with Ford DET Ford IDS Vector CANalyzer/CANape/CANoe.
Knowledge of high voltage automotive systems and electric and/or hybrid electric vehicle systems.
