PRIMARY PURPOSE:
To perform skilled mechanical and electrical work in the installation maintenance and repair of heating ventilation and airconditioning equipment and related duties. To help maintain the physical school plans in the condition of operating excellence so that full educational use of it may be made at all times.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
High School Diploma or GED required
HVAC Certificate/Associate (EPA Type I and II or Universal Certified) required
Clear driving record required
Valid Texas drivers Class C license required
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Speak read and write fluently in English and Spanish
Ability to accurately interpret plans prints specifications and schematics associated with trades
Knowledge of practices procedures work methods and equipment used in HVAC and electrical work
Ability to inspect troubleshoot and repair all types of HVAC DX chill water equipment
Knowledge of International Mechanical Code
Experience:
Three 3 years of experience in a related field required

Hourly Pay Range:
Minimum: $18.65
Midpoint: $22.20
Maximum: $25.75
Note:Starting pay for a new hire in a pay range plan will be determined individually based on each persons jobrelated experience and salaries paid to peer employees in the same position with similar experience.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Work effectively and efficiently to perform the operational and maintenance tasks of assigned campuses following the guidelines of quality standards operating objectives and goals of the HVAC Department.
2. Analyze diagnose and repair system malfunctions or failures.
3. Maintain a preventive maintenance schedule for assigned campuses.
4. Responsible for a variety of skilled and semiskilled mechanical preventive maintenance duties.
5. Replace and/or install airconditioning equipment to meet safety codes.
6. Maintain an inventory of HVAC equipment tools and supplies.
7. Record all equipment repairs and refrigerant use in airconditioning units.
8. Perform minor electrical related tasks in the servicing of HVAC equipment.
9. Replace air filters in air conditioning equipment.
10. Estimate cost of repairs in terms of materials.
11. Replace and rewire motors compressors temperature controls disconnects and motor starters.
12. Install new ductwork as needed.
13. Verify that all daily work orders are completed signed and returned to the HVAC Department.
14. Attend meetings and trainings as required or directed by immediate supervisor.
15. Prepare reports on all daily activities performed.
16. Is productive at all times and takes initiative in correcting HVAC equipment concerns.
17. Respond to afterhour emergency calls in the evenings and/or weekends.
18. Promote a safe working environment and ensures that equipment and vehicle are in good operating condition.
19. Work outside of regular assigned work schedule to include extracurricular functions and to repair/replace needed facilities that may involve night and/or weekend duty as requested.
20. Follow McAllen ISD customer service standards.
21. Perform other duties assigned by immediate supervisor (primary evaluator).
