Job Description
Varsity Diving Coach
JOB TITLE: Diving Coach
REPORTS TO: Athletic Director
SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:
- The diving coach will handle all aspects of the high school diving program. The coach will also assist with the coordinating of the middle school program to help develop the feeder system for the high school program. The coach is responsible for teaching the athletes techniques skills and strategies that prepare the athletes for competition.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Hold organizational meetings for team recruitment.
- Develop a preseason schedule for the athletes that includes; conditioning strength training and skill development.
- Work with the administration to develop the season schedule.
- Work with the administrative assistant to ensure all essential paperwork and information is turned in to the athletic department.
- Conduct tryouts for the tennis program.
- Develop practice plans and schedules to help the players develop.
- Coach and instruct players regarding the rules regulations and skills of the game.
- Develop individual and team strategies for the season based on personnel.
- Monitor academic progress of the student athletes.
- Work with the athletic trainer to help injured athletes return to practice/play.
- Model good sportsmanship and appropriate conduct and expect the same from the players.
- Maintain good standing with NLCS HHC IHSAA and IHSSCA.
- Keep an updated inventory of equipment and uniforms.
- Develop a social media presence.
- Work with local media to promote the sport.
- Complete the end of season checklist in a timely manner.
- Host end of season banquet or event for players (parents also if desired).
- Promote student athletes for postseason awards (HHC AllState Academic AllState)
- Assist the athletic director with hosting IHSAA events.
- Coordinate off season training opportunities for athletes.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience as a head or assistant coach is preferred.
- Experience as a diver is preferred.
- Knowledge of the techniques strategies and skills of diving.
- Ability to recruit and motivate divers/swimmers.
- A passion for working with student athletes.
- Pass background check
