PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Hiring Salary is $18.00/hour.

This position is classified as VHNE (Variable Hour NonBenefit Employee) where the selected candidate will work less than 29 hours per week. This position does not provide medical benefits. This position earns sick leave in accordance with the Healthy Families and Workplace Act.

The City of Aurora will conduct ongoing screenings of applications throughout the year. Once we identify a qualified pool of applicants this position may close quickly and without notice.

The City of Aurora is seeking highly motivated and talented individuals for a position in the Recreation Division. The Program Assistant eSports assists with the daytoday operations at Expo Recreation Center and providing a variety of operational support for the Citys eSports programming. This position reports to the Recreation Supervisor.

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Instructs and lead participants in eSports camps and programs.
  • Monitors cleans and inspects all eSports equipment.
  • Develop and recommend programs to Recreation Supervisor.
  • Responds to public inquiries about recreation eSports programs made by telephone correspondence or during public meetings.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees various community organizations and the public.
  • Adherence to all facility schedules provided by the Recreation Supervisor.
  • Secure program supplies and equipment in a timely manner.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & WORKING CONDITIONS

An equivalent combination of education training and experience that demonstrates required knowledge skills and abilities may be considered.

Education:

  • High School Diploma (preferred but not required)

Experience:

  • eSports experience is preferred but not required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Applicants must have the ability to obtain a Colorado Drivers License with a good driving record
  • Esports certifications are desired

Knowledge:

  • Considerable knowledge of eSports and recreation
  • History of working with others

Skills:

  • Strong interpersonal and managerial skills
  • Handle participants team managers and/or coaches under difficult game situations.
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees citizens and private organizations.

Abilities:

  • Handle sensitive situations with tact and diplomacy
  • Creatively solve problems negotiate and handle stressful situations in a positive manner
  • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Ability to recognize analyze and implement needed organizational systems
  • The ability to motivate staff create a positive work environment and hold staff accountable for achieving measurable goals and developing their skills
  • The ability to respond to customer inquiries and complaints in a timely manner

Licenses and Certifications Required:

  • Must have the ability to obtain a Colorado Drivers License with a good driving record.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification required or the ability to obtain certification within 6 months.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Essential Personnel:

  • When a local announcement of emergency or disaster is declared by the city all City of Aurora employees may be required to work as essential personnel.

Physical Demands:

  • Sedentary to medium physical work depending upon assignment
  • May require ability to lift up to a maximum of 50 pounds
  • May require lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 50 pounds
  • May require regular standing and walking
  • May require bending stooping pushing pulling and climbing
  • Hand/eye coordination for the operation of computer keyboard
  • May require foot/eye coordination for operation of motor vehicle
  • Vision to read reports and other written material
  • Frequent speech communication and hearing to maintain communication with employees and citizens.

Work Environment:

  • Works primarily indoors however outdoors may be required in assisting with a program or outreach events in varying weather conditions

Equipment Used:

  • Operates city of Aurora equipment (i.e. gaming computers gaming consoles etc.
  • This position may require the incumbent to use personal equipment (e.g. vehicle cell phone tools etc. in the course of their employment.
