Job Description

POSITION: Early Interventionist

MAJOR FUNCTIONS:
In conjunction with the Early Learning department and in alignment with the agency mission team goals and objectives the person in this position is responsible for fulfilling Compliance Assurances as stated in the TEIS (Tennessee Early Intervention Services) grant contract and complying with all agency policies. Bilingual candidates are highly encouraged to apply and will be compensated accordingly for the additional skillset.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Provide developmental therapy and ongoing developmental assessments to Part C eligible children and families in accordance with the childs Individualized Family Support Plan (IFSP) through parent/caregiver education modeling and supports following FGRBI (Family Guided Routines Based Interview); these services may include direct intervention consultation and assisting in the transition to early childhood programs and may be delivered in a variety of settings dependent upon the determination of the IFSP team.
  2. Manage a caseload of 1620 fulltime equivalency children to ensure the successful consistent delivery of services as specified by the childs IFSP for a fulltime 40houraweek position.
  3. Maintain childrens records in accordance with all laws regulations and agency guidelines.
  4. Make timely service log and contact log entries in Tennessees Early Intervention Database System (TEIDS) in accordance with current state and agency guidelines.
  5. Provide timely sixmonth and annual developmental assessment information using various tools provided by the State.
  6. Maintain timely and professional consistent verbal and written communication with parents caregivers and other professionals including the IFSP team.
  7. Acquire and demonstrate an ongoing functional knowledge of each childs diagnosis medications best practice intervention techniques and adaptive equipment.
  8. Participate in marketing/promoting the services of the Early Learning Program to residents professionals and childcare personnel in Williamson County and the surrounding area.
  9. Develop and maintain relationships with other service programs therapists school systems funding agencies and professional organizations.
  10. Participate in community awareness education and childfind activities as needed.
  11. Participate in agencywide meetings staff meetings and parent meetings as needed.
  12. Participate in internal and external inservice training maintaining a minimum of 30 inservice hours per fiscal year including Infant/Child CPR and First Aid Certifications and other required training as stated by TEIS.
  13. Ensure that the Early Learning Program equipment is maintained in a safe clean and functional condition.
  14. Maintain personal vehicle insurance reliable transportation and a valid Tennessee drivers license.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS: Degree Requirements: must hold a baccalaureate and/or masters and/or doctorate degree in early childhood special education early childhood education child and family studies (child development) early intervention deaf education or visual disabilities special education K12 elementary education communication disorders speechlanguage pathology occupational therapy physical therapy and/or related field. Related fields can include but are not limited to degrees in social work nursing psychology education administration or sociology. Related field degrees require a minimum of one 1 year of documented experience working with children with disabilities 05 years of age and their families.

Computer proficiency with Microsoft Word Excel email and internet use required. Must demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to work independently. Must have reliable transportation and possess flexibility in scheduling.
