Salary: 51580 per annum (with progression up to 56057
Grade: MA3
Contract: Fulltime Permanent

Birmingham City University is expanding its EDI Unit to introduce two Project Implementation Leads who will spearhead initiatives aimed at tackling inequality and creating positive outcomes for both students and staff.

In this role you will drive key EDI priorities; closing the degree awarding gaps reducing gender and ethnicity pay gaps and fostering inclusive cultures where everyone feels valued respected and safe. You will focus on planning developing implementing and evaluating initiatives that improve organisational performance across various metrics.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead initiatives that address equality and diversity challenges across the University.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues students and external partners to advance EDI priorities.
  • Drive the planning development and evaluation of projects to improve organisational performance.
  • Provide proactive support and expert advice on race equality to senior leaders.
  • Build and maintain relationships with a wide range of stakeholders including private/public organisations community groups and individuals from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.

Essential Requirements

The requirements of the role are detailed in the person specification section of the job description but some key requirements are:

  • Strong commitment to equity diversity and inclusion with a solid understanding of how these principles apply to this role.
  • Indepth knowledge of the challenges facing the higher education sector particularly in relation to race equality.
  • Proven experience providing race equality support and advice to senior leaders.
  • Demonstrated expertise in implementing EDI initiatives within large organisations.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to execute projects to completion without direct management oversight.
  • Exceptional relationshipbuilding skills capable of engaging diverse individuals across various contexts both remotely and inperson.
  • Selfawareness and an understanding of your own cultural norms values and unconscious biases as well as their impact on wider intersectional identities.

The appointed candidate will normally be employed through our subsidiary company BCU Support Services Limited a wholly owned subsidiary of Birmingham City University. Appointees with prior LGPS membership who wish to enter the LGPS scheme will be able to do so and will be employed by Birmingham City University directly.
