Job Description Summary
The Goldsmith Lab at Chapman University in collaboration with the Felton (Montana State University) and Allen (University of Nevada Reno) Labs is soliciting applications for a paid summer undergraduate research assistant to contribute to field research focused on determining the sources of water used by western U.S. grasslands.
Responsibilities
The successful applicant will be based at Montana State University with extensive travel through the region for sampling trips coupled with sample analysis in the laboratory. This is an outstanding opportunity for a mentored experience in field research that cuts across plant ecology soil science and ecohydrology.
Required Qualifications
Rising junior senior or recent graduate majoring in biological sciences environmental sciences and policy or a related field. Experience hiking camping and backpacking with enthusiasm for carrying out physically demanding field research in all weather conditions while camping. Demonstrated experience with basic scientific data collection and management. Interest or demonstrated experience in field science. Strong communication skills. Attention to safety and organizational detail. Work effectively as a member of a team despite potentially stressful and difficult conditions. This may require problem solving on an interpersonal or group level as well as a willingness to accept differences. Valid U.S. drivers license.
