Job Description

Pay: $13.45 per hour

Hours/Days: 240 days 8 hours

Full Time Position & Employer Paid Benefits

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Skill in using a variety of cleaning equipment and supplies.
  • Knowledge of minor maintenance techniques; of elementary supervisory practices.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions; to work with others; to mantain the physical stamina necessary to perform heavy manual labor; to supervise other custodial personnel; to perform heavy manual labor.

REPORTS TO:Building Principal and Director of Property Services

SUPERVISES:Other Custodial Staff

JOB OVERVIEW:Under general supervision performs routine manual tasks required to keep a school builidng complex or administration building clean and orderly; supervises other custodian workers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Supervises and participates in routine custodial work. Sweeps dusts mops scrubs washes vacuums waxes and polished building floors walls woodwork windows furniture equipment and hardware. Performs cleaning and janitorial duties in classrooms halls buildings offices and other specified areas.
  • Operates and maintains buffers sanders vacuum cleaners and other janitorial equipment.
  • Supplies washrooms with paper towels soap and sanitar items; collects and disposes of trash and garbage; sprays disinfects and deodorizes assigned items and areas.
  • Makes minor repairs on buildings and equipment; replaces light bulbs and faucet washers; sands floors and woodwork.
  • Sweeps sidewalks and porches; shovels snow; keeps outside areas clean orderly mowed; trimmed and free of trash; checks and repairs or adjusts playground equipment.
  • Moves equipment and furniture; sets up and removes folding tables and other equipment for lunch recreation or special events.
  • Moves and sets up furniture risers cafeteria tables etc. with request help if necessary.
  • Lift and move school items that may weigh up to 75lbs.
  • Maintains clean and orderly storage rooms; unpacks supplies for storage or distribution.
  • Supervises and instructs other custodial workers in proper uses of cleaning agents and equipment and in performing routine janitorial and cleaning tasks.
  • Receives stores or distributes school supplies.
  • Know location and proper care and use of all firefighting equipment.
  • Report any needed maintenance immediately.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 260 day contract

WORK ENVIRONMENT:This position is both indoor and outdoor within the school building and its outer area.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:This position requires standing walking lifting bendng crouching lifting items.

EVALUATION:Performance of this job will be evaluated

SALARY RANGE:In accordance with EPS Negotiated Contract Scale.

BENEFITS: In accordance with the EPS Negotiated Contract.
