Position Description

The University of Mississippi School of Law invites applications and nominations for at least one visiting professor for theacademic on the courses being taught we are flexible regarding one semester (fall or spring) or full academicyear will be at the rank of Visiting Assistant Visiting Associate or Visiting Full Professor depending on experience.

Alternatively the University of Mississippi School of Law also invites applications and nominations for our VAP program. VAPs will generally spend four semesters (Fall 2025 through Spring 2027 in residence at the law school gaining both teaching experience and the opportunity to devote substantial time to research writing and other scholarly pursuits. VAPs are given the opportunity to present work in progress to the Law School faculty and more generally to receive feedback and mentoring from faculty members in preparation for the academic job market. Course loads and teaching schedules are devised with sensitivity to the timing of the job market process.

The primary teaching interest for any visiting professor applicant must include one or both of Wills & Estates (Trusts & Estates) and Family Law.

Minimum Qualifications

A candidate must have a J.D. degree from an ABA accredited law school and a commitment to teaching in an environment dedicated to excellence in teaching and mentoring of students. All applicants should have a distinguished academic background and either great promise or a record of excellence in both scholarship and teaching.
