:59 PMLibrary Services is seeking a Senior Media Librarian to join our team. This position based in Reference will play a pivotal role in supporting the larger Library Services team.
Working with the Library Services Supervisor and the PoP/Library Services Coordinator you will facilitate change management by seeking opportunities for innovative solutions to optimize content delivery and information services to support our clients.
Based with the Reference unit to support the delivery of research services along with the Coordinator you will help guide the daytoday work of Library Services librarians with specific emphasis on textual visual and audio research promote the use of data to support decision making in all aspects of continuous improvement for optimal workflows and client relationships including training and a crossteam working environment.
In this position you will provide readyreference and longrange research services and information retrieval services. As such knowledge or an ability to learn CBCs internal databases as well as external commercial databases is essential. You will also keep apprised of clients evolving needs ensure best practices are followed and escalate workflow issues as needed.
In this role you will also help drive a holistic approach in navigating client requests through the provision of services regardless of content type (textual audio video stills).
Some key tasks involve:
Provide indepth research via CBCs internal databases and commercial databases
Provide continuous improvement of Library Services via data analysis of client needs and interactions including opportunities to develop and execute strategies to enhance workflows
Assist the Coordinator with assigning and coordinating the work of the Library Services team to ensure optimal client support relationships and fostering a cross team working ecosystem
Ensure established workflows and standards are adhered to
Provide continued training and support to the Library Services team
Liaise with external teams to expedite their needs
Work with Library Services Supervisor to help maintain and update guidelines/standards workflow and user training documentation
Seek areas of improvement where AI and automation can improve workflows and client support
Collaborate with stakeholders in technology solutions and support to ensure best practices in the of new workflows
What we are looking for in a candidate:
Four years of comparable and relevant experience.
Knowledge of CBC/RadioCanada programming policies and journalistic standards and practices
Knowledge of CBC/RadioCanada programming
Knowledge of current affairs & academic commercial research databases
Familiarity with or an ability to learn CBC internal systems including Avid Interplay MAM EVS Dalet 9CMS Cumulus iNews iNews Archives and Google Suite products
Thorough understanding of preservation and handling of filebased media
Ability to adapt workflows and processes to meet evolving business and production needs
Selfmotivated and selfsufficient
Highly organized and detailoriented
Enjoy working in a fastpaced environment that may require quick decision making and the ability to work well under time constraints and deadlines
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Graduate degree from an accredited library school or equivalent education and experience
A Masters degree in Library Science is considered an asset
