Job Description

Position Overview

The District School Psychologist helps lead the Student Services Department in the areas of socialemotionalbehavioralhealth. This is a schoolyear role 184 days) reporting to the Director of Student Services. About the Weston Public Schools

The Weston Public Schools enrolls approximately 2000 students in prekindergarten through grade 12. The school district includes a high school for grades 912 a middle school for grades 68 an upper elementary school for grades 45 and two lower elementary schools for prekindergarten through grade 3. Since 1967 Weston has participated in METCO (Metropolitan Council for Educational Opportunity) a voluntary school integration program that places Boston residents in suburban schools. The Weston METCO program enrolls approximately 160 students (K12.

Key Responsibilities
  • Embrace the diversity of the Weston Public Schools by fostering an environment of respect and inclusion.
  • Provides districtwide clinical support consultation and crisis intervention.
  • Provides supervision and evaluation to guidance counselors school counselors social workers and psychologists.
  • Performs psychological testing/consultation and report writing.
  • Orders protocols and supplies under the direction of the Director of Student Services.
  • Attends IEP/504 team meetings and school and districtbased meetings to ensure continuity of care.
  • Consults with building and district administrators regarding social/emotional/behavioral and mental health needs.
  • Conducts home assessments and/or visits as needed.
  • Works with families of students and connects them to resources and provides education and support.
  • Works with teams in schools to ensure students returning from hospitalizations have adequate and appropriate supports.
  • Assists with the development and oversight of tiered socialemotional programming districtwide.
  • Provides risk management for students at high risk for mental health crises.
  • Researches and identifies successful screening and assessment tools and evidencebased models of providing emotional and behavioral interventions for students across all tiers of needs.
  • Researches and identifies reasonable and developmentally appropriate data collection and progress monitoring measures designed to assess progress and document outcomes for students with primary mental health concerns.
  • Provides professional development and training to district and schoolbased employees as needed.
  • Coordinates and administers external consulting and outpatient resources for students and families (e.g. Cartwheel Community Cares JED Foundation/JED High School Human Relations Service.
  • Cultivates and maintains communication and collaboration with outside communitybased agencies (e.g. Police DCF DMH HRS Riverside community partners..
  • Performs other duties as assigned. At times these duties may extend beyond the school day.
Desired Qualifications
  • Hold a valid Massachusetts license as a School Psychologist
  • Minimum 5 years experience
  • Masters degree in Psychology Doctorate preferred
  • Formal training and experience working with children adolescents and families struggling with complex challenges including mental health and substance use challenges.
  • Experience providing consultation and team coordination for students with complex presentations across the district.
  • Ability to conduct Psychological testing/consultation for students with primary emotional/behavioral problems.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain and build contacts with outside providers of mental health services and communitybased agencies (Police DCF DMH HRS Riverside community partners etc.
  • Excellent case management and communication skills.
  • Excellent communication skills clear writer effective facilitator/public speaker
Compensation and Benefits

The District School Psychologist is eligible for a base salary between $79901 $133689. The Weston Public Schools also offer a comprehensive benefits package including subsidized health insurance and participation in the Massachusetts Teachers Retirement System.
